I'm also very shy, but it's due to social anxiety. Perhaps you have the same thing. If you wanna talk about stuff, give me an email: rhardiman4@yahoo. Are you a psych major by any chance?

Remember everything you tried to do. How scary it was before you done it? Was no where near as bad later or after you got started right? Just go do a little more all the time till you are more open. The more you do the more open you will be. It is all that unsure feling of getting started that is worse than doing anything. So just take the first step.

Yes use your college pyscologist. I believe that what you tell her can remain confidential. Why don't you join some art class? Something that will push you express yourself. I was very very shy when I was in college, but one day I looked at myself and said: You know what?None is better than anyone, we all have the same brain. Some people are just luckier than other. I always remembered that, specially in difficult moments.

Good Luck.. there is nothing wrong with being shy.

Do you have a job? Like I don't mean that in a bad way, I just know that I was incrediably shy until i went out and had a job, and then started having to deal with people and strangers. The interviews and all suck and all but in the long run it helps. Talking to someone could help too.

You can go to a psychologist or you can try DIY. Read books on the matter. Or just try shake it off. I remember i was so shy i had to ask my mum to make phone calls for me. Going for job interviews was torture. But i had to educate myself out of it, so i went to sales courses and all sorts of jobs where i was forced to talk to strangers or in public. I didn't become a sales person, but i can have a normal life now. Good luck and remember, is all inside you.
