He used to have a suzuki. Crashed that one and needed surgery. Got into another accident on another bike and walked away luckily. I know he's the one for me but he tells me that I'm being jealous and selfish because he told me he doesn't want me on one because I'm a girl. I don't want one at all I just don't want to see him get hurt. If he was the one to get killed I'd be the one to suffer and he's proven his luck enough. I'm not trying to run his life. What should I do?

It is very self-centered of him to not take your feelings of security at heart. By him risking his life, he is risking a future you are investing your time, love, and energy into. He will have to weigh the odds as to whether his personal satisfaction is of greater importance to him towards his personal fulfillment rather than a future with a possibility of a family with you (if that is what you want). My personal belief is that when two people have joined as partners, its a partnership. Partnerships consists of two people looking out for each other for the betterment and strength of your union. Yes we all have our hobbies and dreams. However, sometimes we have to compromise our choices for more important choices that we have commited to in our life. Aside from the aspect of it possibly terminating a relationship with you by potentially dying, he would be threatening his ability to experience life with reckless driving. It's in his personal best interest to take it easy. If the bike must absolutely be a part of his life, maybe he can make a deal with you to drive under a certain speed limit or during safe conditions (wearing gear, weather, etc.). If he is really flippant about your concerns, I'd really reevaluate how serious he is about your feelings in general. That's not cool. (As for you wanting to ride - if you do- , it shouldn't matter what gender you are. I ride too.) Unfortunately, if he does continue on with this choice to ride, it is his choice. What you are in control of is what choices you make in regards to his choice. All you can do is voice your concerns, hope he listens, and most of all do what is best for you. Got to love free will, huh? It's tough. Take care... I hope things work out best for you both.

Tell him you'd appreciate it if he'd do a few things for you before gettting another - 1. take a motorcycle safety class 2. make sure his will is in order 3. make sure his health insurance is up to date.

Don't know what to tell you...my husband has 2 Harleys and I would never tell him to get rid of them. He was in 1 bad accident years ago and is now very careful, especially with having a wife and 2 kids.

You've made it clear how you feel. If you are not trying to run his life, then bite your tongue and let the chips fall where they may. Don't make the mistake of being a Mommy when really you are a girlfriend.

Give him an ultimatum:
You, or a cycle--he can't have both.
And if he picks the cycle, leave, because he doesn't care about you.

I say HE is the selfish one here--why would you want to stick around waiting for him to kill himself?

He will resent you if he doesn't get one and REALLY wants one. He is being selfish though....not you.
