No, you cannot keep a Bob Cat as a pet! Most, if not all, states have bans on keeping wild or exotic animals as pets. At the very least, you would have to be licensed as a Big Cat Rescue Organization. Usually, that means you can't be located within a city limits, and you must have certain types of pens, fences, and enclosures to keep your cats from escaping. We won't even talk about insuring a place like that!
If you could find someone who deals in big cats (and they are out there), they generally have pretty rigid requirements on the pen that must be built for the animal. It's not going to live in the house with you, like a dog! Once you have a proper enclosure, not only do you need the huge fee to "adopt" the animal, but you will need to locate a vet experienced and willing to care for it, and most dealers will want to see proof that you can afford to properly feed the animal before you buy it. You cannot go to the grocery store and pick up a bag of Purina Bob Cat Chow! Wild cats need real meat, and plenty of it!
These cats are very cute, but they are wild animals. They are best left in the wild, in preserves where they are protected from hunters. If you want to see one in person , visit a Big Cat Rescue, or a zoo. Go to the shelter and adopt a homeless cat or dog if you're looking for a pet. Good luck!

I dont think any states allow for wild animals as pets unless you get a permit/license. You also have to have experience with the animal, and bobcats have a tendency of biting and clawing.
Ask yourself WHY you want to own a bobcat. Why not a domestic cat??

I am not sure but why would you want a bobcat for a pet. It is a wild animal and should never be kept as a pet. You could try to tame, it and then think that it is trained, and then it could turn around and attack someone. Then everyone would blame the animal and it would be killed and that is not fair. It would be the owners fault cause he/she was not responsible enough to know that wild animals can not be kept safely as domestic pets.

The Best answer here is Not Accurate and is uninformed. Bobcats like other animals have a personality. Some domesticate well some do not.

You could get a Pixie-Bob. Domestic cat and a bobcat. Pixie-Bob are legally designated as domestic cats, even if they might have Bobcat heritage. The Pixie-Bob has a large body with big feet, and usually a short, bobbed tail and a gentle personality. Most Pixie-Bobs are short-haired. Pixie-Bobs are legal in all 50 states without a license, and are legally considered domestic cats, despite their legend.

I don't think a bobcat would ever settle down and be a good pet. Better to get a very large Maine Coon cat.
