The exponent would be calculated first (since it is within the parentheses), then the remaining subtraction in parentheses, and then the multiplication, as follows:

12x + 8x / 4 x (3^2 - 3)
= 12x + 8x / 4 x (9 - 3)
= 12x + 8x / 4 x 6
= 12x + 8x / 24
= 12x + x/3.

PEMDAS
First do Parenthesis
3^2-3 This is 9-3 or 6
12x+8x/4 x 6 This problem is confusing.....does the x to the right of the division sign (/) mean multiplication or is it the variable x????) I need to see how the problem was written. This is only a guess, but since there is a space between the 4 and the x, I am GUESSING that it is a multiplication sign

If this is true, then the problem reads
12x + 8x / 4x * 6 Note: I put * in for multiplication instead of x

Next is division / multiplication; left to right

12x + 2 * 6 and then 12x + 12

this would be the final answer; it could be reduced to
12(x+1)

Hope my guessing was correct

Is denominator 4(3² - 3) or (4x)(3² - 3) ?????
Is it (12x + 8x) to be divided or is it only the 8x that has to be divided?????
Assuming:-
(12x + 8x) / 4(3² - 3)
= 20 x / 24
= 5x / 6

I`m afraid question is really meaningless without brackets and the above solution can only be a guess.
