30 = 2*3*5; none of its factors is square. sqrt(30 is not reducible.

24 = 2*2*2*3 = 2^2 * 2*3 = 2^2 * 6

sqrt(24) = sqrt(2^2 * 6) = sqrt(2^2) * sqrt(6) = 2sqrt(6)

√ 30 cannot be reduced
√ 24 = √ (4 x 6) = 2 √ 6

sqrt(30) = sqrt(its factors). Find a perfect square and filter it out. It just depends what the radical stands for (cube root, square root, etc).

You can also write it like this : (30)^(1/2) That is 30 to the 1/2 power. Then, again, it depends on what the sign stands for.
