I am sorry for the families who lost loved ones at 9/11 but much more has been lost in Baghdad, it is hell most days for families there, just trying to live, the way they want, in peace.

Saying that the "evils" of the US "caused" 9/11 and that we should "appease" Islamists (which I understand you meant sarcastically) is the same thing as blaming a rape victim for wearing a skirt that's too short and grinding at a club. Provocative sexual behavior do not mean that the girl "wanted it" or "deserved it." In the same way, no matter how "evil" or imperialist, or "mcworld" [imperialism through capitalism and media] the U.S. is, it didn't deserve to have a critical building filled with civilians blown up by crazy radicals of any nationality, religion, or political affiliation.

The point, though, isn't to be apologists, but to understand the U.S.'s place in the world. It's to understand that imperialism and lack of respect for others causes fear and disrespect. It's to understand that hypocracy (like calling on countries to respect human rights while allowing the death penalty and torture, or saying we should foster democracy but supporting dictators in places like Pakistan). The U.S. needs to work on its relationships, not to prevent terrorists, but to be able to function as a member of the world society.
