some people need basic lessons in political terminology.
A republic is a nation whose head of state is elected by the voting public.
A constitutional monarchy has a political leader such as a Prime Minister elected by the people, but also another higher head of state. In Canada's case, the highest head of state is the Queen of England. Fortunately, she is just acts like a figurehead, because she is smart enough to know what will happen if she tries to pull the political strings.
Republics and contstitutional monarchies are two types of democracies. They are not the same.
