Yes, I do believe in fairies. As someone of both Irish and Ojibwa heritage--I am very familiar with many of the stories of Fairies and Little People in both Ireland and in the northwoods of the Upper Great Lakes (Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota).
I know many people who believe that The Little People can still be found living among us today. For example, my mother had an encounter with fairies on one of her trips to Ireland.
My personal encounter with Ojibwa fairies known as "They who fly to the flowers" occured in the summer of 1997. Here's part of what I wrote after the experience: “understand that our world and the fairy world co-exist and share the same space. There are certain places where the veil that separates these dimensions can be pierced. It’s like knowing a hidden picture is on a page; the picture is hidden because the arrangement of color, shapes and images makes it very difficult to see. But then you put on a pair of red glasses—and all of a sudden you see the image clearly. As you can see, the image had always been there. And even after you take the glasses off—and you won’t be able to see the image—you know with certainty that the image is indeed really there. With the Little People is was a green lens, so to speak. There we were on hands and knees, kneeling before a flower . . . offering tobacco . . .singing the (Ojibwa) Little People Song and believing with all our heart that they were there. And then it happened. Like a beautiful green lens was placed over our eyes, enabling us to see what has always been.”

I've seen them very rarely. Oddest sighting was in a gay bar, and I'm not bashing since I am gay! I saw a small ball of golden light float across the room. I looked at my partner and he had seen it also. He has an almost overactive "third-eye" as he sees many of them. When we lived in St.Louis, there was a kobold living in the basement. Very often, we would smell pipe tobacco in the foyer of our home. Neither of us smoke, and any friends who do step outside to do so. He would also see what I believe to be the guardian spirit of the ash tree in the front yard looking out the third story window in the winter.

I do.. My family and i went on a camping trip.we were packing up the motorhome to go home..I could not find my very large backpack and laughed that it must be the faeries and asked for it back..5 minutes later it was under a big pile of bedding and laundry( i know i checked there).Later that evening i was having a ciggie in the garage ( looking at that huge pile of laundry knowing i was the only person who was gonna do it) and all of a sudden the pile of sheets and blankets started moving ( im not joking) and hundred of beautiful faeries of different varieties and colors came flying out of that pile of laundry on the garage floor and were flying around in front of me and playing on some ropes hanging from the rafters. I sat there just amazed and very excited. As they started to disappear i took a bowl of milk, honey and fruit out into my garden in case they got hungry later! TRUE STORY!

I thought I saw one in the shower once. Unfortunately, it turned out that the hot water had brought down my blood pressure too far, which caused me to see floating lights. I wonder if all people who see fairies have low blood pressure?
Maybe they should do a scientific study on this one. If the government can afford a $10,000 toilet seat, they can surely afford to investigate the important connection between low blood pressure and fairy sightings!

I believe in faeries (proper spelling) because I know they exist.
BTW Faeries are neither benevolent or malevolent. They are whimsical creatures without morals or conscience, and so will do whatever strikes their fancy at the time without regard to consequence.
So it might appear that they are doing something to be nice or mean, but they aren't because they don't put those labels on their actions. They simply do what pleases them.
