They come there for the warmth and since they are nesting birds have found a nice place to nest. They also return every year to the same place. I suggest you purchase a fake owl statue and a fake hawk statue and secure them on the top of the roof right at the place where they gather the most. You can usually find them in hunting shops or at country farm stores because they are used to keep pesty birds out of the gardens and crops. A crow is also used near corn but the doves aren't scared of them. Hawks and Owl eat doves. So do eagles so that would also work but for some reason the hawk and owl works the best. Make sure it really looks like the real thing. Sometimes you can even buy the scent of those birds to sprinkle on the statue. We used to have dozens of mourning doves around our neighborhood. Everyone was getting sick of them. Then, they all disappeared and we eventually found out why. A hawl family moved into the trees behind our house and that took care of the doves. Of course we still the rabbit and squirrels and field mice around here so they are still living in the trees and keeping vigil but we no longer have any doves around. Good luck.

I had them roosting on my rentals and pooping all over the walkways to create a smelly mess. You can buy a spike strip which you can attach upright on a surface where they are landing or roosting so that they cannot. (The type you see on top of street lights and billboards.) But, I found it was an expensive proposition for my application and they only moved on to another place, so I had to either add more or disconnect the ones I had to move them risking that they would come right back to their original spot.

So, I bought those little whirly gigs and attached small dowels through them or directly mounted them (the ones with wooden sticks) all over the place. We got just enough air circulation up there to keep many of them spinning and the pigeons stopped roosting up there. Looks ridiculous and my tenants made a lot of fun of them, but they sure were thankful when there were no more pigeons roosting above the walkway!

The fake owl solution doesn't work. The solution is to hire a handy man to get up there, seal all open spaces and scatter or spray something that is offensive to birds.

Have fun.
