We have been using some very delicious mushrooms to make a nice spring salad all summer and our neighbors are overreacting because their kids were over for dinner and they loved it. These are typical nosy neighbors. Should we just cut them off and quit letting their children use our giant trampoline?

All I am saying is that kids need their vegetables and if they come over here, they are going to reap natures bounty whether parents like it or not. Dont like it, no trampoline and no butterscotch schnapps.

You feed them wild mushrooms and let them jump on your trampoline? Whats next? Chainsaw juggling and rattlesnake roundups?

Your asking to get sued.

Rethink your neighborly duties, before you lose everything.

Parents have every right to control what their kids do and do not eat.

I am very a strong supporter of wild foods. Heck, I even tried to do a video cooking series on the subject a few years back. Mushrooms are one of those items that it is quite easy to make a mistake about. The problem is, that with mushrooms the result can be much more serious than an upset stomach if you happen to make an accidental miss-identification (up to and including complete liver failure).

If you want to eat the shrooms and feed them to your kids, more power to you. However, you shouldn't be upset if your neighbors don't want their kids to eat them and you should respect their wishes.

It's kind of like wild game. I cook absolutely wonderful dishes using wild game. However, I always make certain that my guests are OK with eating wild game before I cook any for them.

You are brave - feed the neighbors mushrooms and let them use the trampoline? Pretty high risk stuff and they are making noises like they would not be fun to have around if things went bad. I wouldn't feed them or engage in potentially dangerous activities on my property. Handle it in a matter-of -fact manner - no drama, just set the boundary. Be nice to the kids and be a good (but safe) role-model. Don't try to do parenting for them. It's not your job.

I would. If they object, they are the parents, so don't invite the kids to eat at your home any longer. I would never let anybody else's children on your trampoline because the level of injuries is so high. You can lose your house. It isn't the falling off as much as two kids crashing into each other.

If the kids are well behaved and there's no real problem with them playing at your house, then let them play. If the parents have a problem with what their children eat while at your house, then they need to talk to their own children about it. It's up to them to inform their children whether they are allowed to eat your salad or anything else. It's up to you not to get bent out of shape over what their parents allow them to eat. It doesn't mean that they should expect you to fix something especially for them, only that their own parents are responsible to see that they have food available if they don't allow them to eat what you fix.
Let the kids play, but let the kids' parents handle their dietary needs if they don't approve of your cooking skills. Just don't let something that minor cause a rift between neighbors.

You didn't mention kids of your own, why do you own a trampoline? Do you use it to lure little children into your home to feed them your magic mushrooms and show them your kiddie porn collection? Your neighbors aren't making enough noise about you.

My two (above) is so right... why punish the kids for loving your salad?

Just because the parents are morons, that doen't mean you should stoop to their level. Let it go for the kid's sake.
