It's one of my pet peeves, but I cannot abide people using the verb "Pop".
Why can't they just say put (or go))?
Women use it much more than men, to my hearing.
-I'll just pop into this shop-Pop it into the oven! etc.
Yes I know I'm an old moan, but I do believe other people must share my gripe.

That wouldn't bother me. What bothers me is when people continuously misuse their English.

A friend of mine, for example, was talking about her insect bites and kept saying "whelps" instead of "whelts." Whelping is the term used for a dog giving birth. A whelt is a raised area of skin reacting to something traumatic such as a strike or a bite. That type of thing - I can't live with.

whats wrong with pop? its jsut a word. i have an issue though with peopel using the "aks" version of the word "ask" coz that that shows ignorance to me. pop is a word.
