I was wondering what you have to do to be in the pool of all people that are picked? I always heard you had to be a registered voter but I had a friend get called and he isn't a registered voter.

I believe in most states that it now goes by whether or not you have a driver's license.

You have to be a home owner. Usually they pick people that own their own home. You can however call the court house and request to be put on the list of people who are selected. There is usually forms to fill out and you will be checked out as a citizen of the county where the court house is because that is a requirement. You cannot sit on a jury for a county you do not live in. My husband gets called all the time but he has a leniency clause so he can get out of it since he is hospital personnel and needed. I never get called because my name is not on the deed to the property. We never got called as long as we were renting our houses. It wasn't until we bought one that we started to get the calls.

Some states also use licensed drivers.
