It is - Patriot Day. On this day, the President directs that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff and displayed from individual American homes, at the White House, and on all U.S. government buildings and establishments, home and abroad. The President also asks Americans to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 A.M. (Eastern Daylight Time) marking the first plane crash on Sept. 11, 2001.

Take a look at what we do with our other national holidays...

There's Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day.... just to name a few. Do you think MOST of the nation stops to honor anyone other than the BBQ chef on those holidays?

If Patriot's Day becomes a national day off, we'll lose the meaning behind it. And, I couldn't possibly bear that.

Don't ever forget. Ever.

I think that it should be!! I know also that I'll never forget that day or the ones following it!! The people we lost, their families and friends are in my thoughts and prayers!! I remember exactly what I was doing when I first heard the news, my reaction that this was happening here, to us, I live on the opposite side of the country. I cried. They will NEVER be forgotten!! My thoughts and prayers are with this country today for all the people that were effected!!!

Shouldn't be a holiday. It should be a day of remembrance though. Can you see it now ..... all the stores will have their big red, white and blue 9/11 sales. Freeways packed with campers to "celebrate" by going on a vacation. Let alone the car dealerships and their big sales.

Sharpton and Jackson were key players in 1960s civil rights movement and marched side by side with King. Had there not been a death, you'd probably have mentioned King in your tirade.

Work hard in their honor.
So many lost while doing their job.

Sending a prayer: may their souls rest in peace.
