We have a realtor. We have done every upgrade the realtor insisted upon...but no one is contacting us. Here's a theory someone threw past me earlier today: that "Clearwater is owned and run by Scientologists, that's why you're having trouble selling it...you need to let the Scientoogists know you have something for sale there....maybe they could use it."

I'd purchased this place as an investment 2 yrs ago. I did not investigate Clearwater, and certainly would never have been checking for something like that, for what religions are big in the area.

Is there any truth to this? SHOULD I be trying to court the Scientology community about this unit? Maybe they DO need homes in that area for their members.

Does anyone know about this?

And also, if true, how do you put ads for something like this in front of their locals? I don't imagine they have a classified paper just for them in that city, though again, I don't know that.

Thank you!!

Sounds like bull. Nobody owns a town. And even if Scientology did they wouldnt block commerce. If there are alot of them there then it might HELP sell it if you let them know. They tend to move people around alot.

It might help if you mentioned WHICH Clearwater you mean. Florida, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska?

ask your realtor to hit up on the scientologists but usually after paying for all their classes they dont have too much money left
i think it would be hard to sell your apartment to outsiders who are afraid of x*** you will have to work on people who already live in clearwater and knows about the scene there
good luck

It is illegal to market a property directly to any specific religion. Check the fair housing laws. Your realtor should know this. When the realtors contract expires, get a new one, and interview them about their sales strategy and previous sales listings.
