the defrosters in my 1993 chrysler new yorker/ 5th avenue do not work. I changed the blower motor and the heat exchanger ,in the dash, and it still does not work. I was wondering is there a module or something that I am not aware of ?I also lost all the gauges in the dash, along with the auto door locks. All about the same time. any help would be appreciated.

check the blower motor resistor. it should be outside in the wiper cowl. i think you'll have to remove the windsheild washer bottle and you'll see it. should be 2 screws holding it to the firewall. when you remove it you will see metal coils, and most likely one of them will be rusted apart or melted apart. probably $10-15.

Did all of this happen at the same time? If it did, then it's probably all related to a circuit problem. Check all fuses, check wiring under the hood, especially the fuse link wires. Those are the multicolored wires tied in a bundle coming off the positive cable and behind the battery. or fuses in a black fuse holder next to the battery. If these check good, go to the ignition switch and check for burned wires at the switch, which means a bad switch. However, the defrost is a different matter. I am assuming the blower motor is working. If not, follow the answer I just described. If it is working, check all the vacuum lines and make sure they are routed correctly and have vacuum going to the correct actuator when it should.
See if the defrost actuator isn't stuck. One thing to remember is, the system is designed to default to defrost if for any reason it looses vacuum from the engine, Good luck.

the New Yorker has a separate body computer..sounds like yours quit. Might be a fuse but most likely a new computer is in order.
