In 1892, Charles and Frank Duryea built the first American gasoline-powered automobile. It's was named Duryea.
In 1900 Ransom E. Olds started mass- producing cars for the first time.
In 1908 Henry Ford started production of the Model T.
Don't know about foreign cars.

First mass-produced was Ford, first American was Haynes, I think, and I think Daimler was actually the first car brand sold. (Not sure about that though)

This is a guess -- Otto Benz produced the first "automobile," so I'm betting Benz motors was the first (later became Mercedes-Benz).
