Doesn't everyone know that ANYONE from anywhere can edit a posting? That doesn't make it 100% true. I've seen so many people here claim their only source as wiki. And act as if it is the absolute truth.

What can we do to help people to do more reaserch on any given subject? Other that just Wiki?

All I'm meaning is that too many people on Y!A use ONLY Wiki as the source to their answers. And don't bother to look if it is true or "added" by a 10 year old.

Perfect example: I live in NYC and a friend is visiting NY for the first time next week. When I asked her what she really wanted to do/see here in the city she listed a lot of random things--she said that she read about some great shopping neighborhoods in the city.

When I told her that the neighborhoods she mentioned were horrible neighborhoods with no shopping, and at least an hour from Manhattan, she said "well that's what it told me on Wikipedia!"

You're misunderstanding the point of Wikipedia. It isn't meant to be a be-all end-all guide to everything. Its a great place to get started on a topic though.

Next time you're there, scroll down to the end of an article. See the sources listed so you can verify and continue research? That's why Wikipedia is THE encyclopedia.

Because they're dumb. It can be accurate in things, but you never know if it was just edited by a 10 year old.

Don't use it! After what I have heard about the site, I never will either! To much none-truths are being posted as truths!
