I read an idiotic statement today claiming that America brought 9-11 on itself by its 'imperialistic' attitude.....followed by the head -in-the-sand remark that America should show concern for other countries when they have disasters. Duh? Hello?

Yes, more than stupid this statement is cruel..like spitting on the graves of those who died. I agree, NO ONE deserves terrorism. America and individual Americans show compassion to all people groups. That's what riled me about the second half..the person actually said AmeriCANS should care about other countries. I think it's obvious we do.

Do you have a link to the story? Always fun to share a little righteous indignation.
Hopefully you have read George Orwell's "1984"; I should read it again now that I am much older than before. People are immensely programmable and can be taught to do all kinds of crazy things. Technology can be used to magnify this effect and brainwash the multitudes, or it can free us.
Some people are so zealously tied to their political loyalties that they must make up stories like this to try to brainwash the masses. I don't honestly believe that the author believes his own story, but is writing it to try to rewrite history as it happens and to disparage the current administration by any means possible. It's not just the Liberals, either.
Ayn Rand wrote "The Fountainhead" about the media and the strength and importance of the individual. The media is used as a weapon to throw the fortunes of political power, but fortunately we can rise above that muck if we try.
Does anybody actually want to see Brittany Spears on TV anymore? Her career has crashed and burned, and no appearance on MTV will help. Soon the media will learn to dump her, but it takes time. Also, soon the media will dump the "blame the victim" party line when it can sell more papers by doing so.
The use of the word "Imperialist" by commies referring to America is so sweetly ironic, how do I describe the feeling? The Soviet Union got a free pass to bulldoze Eastern Europe and yet we are the Imperialists for having military bases in Japan, Germany and other countries. Cesar Chavez is the new dictator of Venezuela, yet the US media adore him.

Ignorance, stupidity, and jealousy in fair measure.
From one perspective you could argue that the US did bring 9/11 on itself. If we had to foresight to break the strangle hold OPEC has on the world by becoming far less dependent on crude oil products, the double-dealing Saudi's and everybody else in that region would have no one to sell their oil to.
Our own money has been, and is still being used, to fund Islamic extremism and their attacks against us.
As for the rest...
The United States has freed more people from oppression than any other Nation on the face of the earth back to recorded history.
The United States has spent more of it's treasure and shed it's own blood defending much of the free world than any other Nation
The Unites States has aided more Nations in desperate need whether through their own folly or by way of natural disaster than any other Country.
And to think - we didn't even require the recipients of our never ending generosity to shed their native religions in exchange. The audacity!

Hate and training can do a lot of things. Its what are brought up to believe.Almost all are supposed to bring into a existence of a normality of a culture. this is what happens when religion and different cultures come together. Anyway this is an old hate that goes back before the "CRUSADES". Some people and cultures have deep memories.

A few fanatics thumping their version of a bible written by a wretched heathen zealot (aka mohammed, who was probably pissed because he was rejected by a white woman), much oppression, including complete lack of education, poverty, makes them seem bigger than life and the 'flock' very easy to lead in whatever direction they want.
.
The key point here is: NO EDUCATION. Most can't read or write. Teach the masses and most of this will go away. They just have to take the word of those few around them that can read.

I don't think terrorism is ever deserved. I think the U.S.'s foreign policy is flawed and we tend to make enemies with this cowboy diplomacy crap. And what the hell is wrong with being compassionate when other countries have disasters? Maybe we'll need their help someday. It's called being a decent person. Duh? Hello?

Terrorists only support terrorism. Lenin observed "the purpose of terrorism is to terrify" . It serves no other purpose.

I agree, no peoples deserve to be terrorized, even Iraqis. Sorry, I forgot, they are being liberated. To bad the 650,000+ Iraqi dead wont be around to enjoy it.
