I have a 9ft. couch, and I'm looking to move four states away soon and don't want to take it along. It's still very usable, but there is a piece of wood snapped at the bottom that's not fixable. I want to know how to get rid of it. I'm not sure if the Salvation Army or Good Will would take it.

Stick it on the curb with a "For Sale" sign on it. It should disappear the following night.

Its no longer a sensible factor to do. Apart from dangers from residual charge you also have quite a lot of toxins in the historical package. Appear up Cathode Ray Tube for more important points. But remember the tube is just one phase. You als o have the capacitors and different componants.

if you believe it is still usable, give the Salvation Army a call first. if they do not want it, see if you have a "Freecycle" website/network in your area. you can offer the couch for free to someone who would come pick it up.

The Salvation Army and Goodwill would take it but would trash it but at least it's gone. You can also call 1-800-GOT-JUNK.

In my city, all you have to do is put it outside with a "free" sign on it and it will be gone by the end of the day. Or just leave it there for the trash man.

Around here we put it at the curb and call waste management. They come and take it away for free.

Goodwill Industries will take and repair your couch. Just give them a call and set up a pick-up.
The trainees at Goodwill learn furniture repair and upholstery just for this reason.

Just put it at the foot of your driveway with a sign saying FREE. There are always college kids looking for free furniture.

Stick it out on the curb on garbage night. I can almost guarantee that it will be gone by the morning.
