Yes because I snuck into one once and didnt pay and was the only one in there. It was kinda creepy being in there by myself!

Yes. Almost all theatres are now on an auto system. If it does not play through, they can not start it later. Obviously if their is a projectionist who is in complete control, they can say do not run it. But now in most muptiplexes there is one projectionist for the entire operation, three, four, five, six or more screens. So for that person, he/she has to start it on time so everything works together later. Besides, how can they be sure no one is coming. There can be a later arrival even up to fifteen minutes late as many places have fillers for at least 10 minutes and some customers know this.

Yes. They have agreed contracts with the people who work there. Somebody is getting paid to press play. Somebody is also getting paid to watch the audience incase they are bad.
