what's the point in trying to do anything if the end result would (in most cases) be unfair?
like if you did really well in school and you end up with bad results at the end of it, then there would have been no point in trying.

sorry if it's hard to understand, i'm real tired at the minute

You have to keep at it, even though it's silly.
You have a very unique role in the world, you may just not realize it, because you can't objectively view your life from outside. If you did see it all at once, it might "burn out" your consciousness. You are seeing life "through a glass, darkly", and can't judge what's real most of the time. You just have to trust that it will be worth it.
The point of trying hard in school (or in the much squashier world of life) is to go through the experience. The strangest, funniest things turn out to be great, in life. Life is a long process of building yourself, and sometimes it's agonizing.
But your worries and anxiety will turn into supreme happiness and confidence, no matter what happens, if you have gone through these problems first.

There are some people in this world who don't even have food and some people just sit around and get given everything they want Its true that nice people do finish last they seem to get stepped on by every horrible person passing Some people win the lotto more then once how unfair is that Good things always turn to crap and fall apart and bad things follow you around for a long time Nasty people don't always get what they deserve

For the chance of the end results being fair. In my life, yes, I see most things as unfair, but better to live for the "fair" things then die off and "quit" life. If you think that way in everything ("if you do really well in something, end up with bad results, then therefore no point in trying") what's the point of life? All you can do is do you best and hope for the best. Bad consequences will come along with good ones.

Because life is a lottery. You never know whether you might win tomorrow, or in 10 years time. In other words, because it is unfair you might get something nice come to you one day that other people dont get.

To give you an extreme example: Some people are born without legs. That is unfair. But that isnt a reason for them to stay in bed all their lives and not bother with anything. They get out and make the best of things, ie they play the hand God dealt them as best as they are able. They may have other advantages (eg a loving family) that some people who were born with legs do not have and never will have.

Life is unfair, but that is why you must make the best of any opportunities you get. It is not a reason to give up.

Self-esteem is how you feel about yourself, how confident you are, how accomplished you feel. It reflects whether a person loves, accepts, and believes in who they are. For some of us, however, it can go up and down. One day you might feel really on top of everything, great about yourself, unafraid to try anything. And the next day, you’re just as likely to feel completely at the bottom, unsure of yourself, afraid to say or do anything.

Building high self-esteem is a process, not something you can develop overnight. And this isn’t necessarily easy. Yet, every single person has the capacity of high self-esteem.
Human beings can amplify or reduce their value by contrasting themselves either positively or negatively with others. But if you play the comparison game, you’ll run into too many “opponents” you can’t defeat. There will always be some people who have more than you and some who have less. So stop comparing!

Life IS unfair, but be grateful for it. Imagine if we ALL got what we deserved. How many times have you stolen, lied, cheated, ran a red light, manipulated and otherwise made it so YOU came out on top? You didn't get caught for all you have done. Never give up on life. I do not know why we suffer injustices here. My husband was on his way to WORK and got hit head-on at 80 mph by a drunk driver who was REALLY wasted. It was not fair. He is crippled and bitter. What do you tell someone like that? I don't know but I know that we are supposed to stay here as long as possible and "learn" the lessons we are supposed to learn. Continue to strive for your goals because if you NEVER quit, you will reach your dreams and goals. You WILL derive pleasure and love from life if you stay in it and strive to do good, serve others, and basically be a good person and friend. You won't just get screwed, good will come... lots of it. Hang in there and NEVER give up on life. I have actually seen "Death Row" in person, not on a tour, I was handcuffed. So, enjoy life, you are free to do whatever you want, MAKE it a pleasure. You have the power and the freedom to make your life anything you want it to be.

Ben - I'm going to treat this as a serious question, and not just a typical adolescent whinge. Just about everybody must feel the 'whats the point' dilemma at sometimes in their life - I certainly have on several occasions. The answer must be - its all a bit of a lottery - because every now and then, something happens to make you feel it is all worth the effort after all. I think that people who feel negatively all the time about their lives are ones who expect always to be happy (whatever that is). Go with the flow mate - and wait for your numbers to come up (I'm not talking literally). When you see a chance to influence things in your favour - go for it, but don't expect every decision you make to come out good.

Because you have a very good chance of being the envy of others "unfairness." Maybe you'll be the one who tried very hard and got bad results but prosper more than the straight A student. Just because life is "unfair" doesn't mean it will never favor you.

If you stop trying, you will have nothing else left to live for . . . trying is part of life's journey.

Life isn't always fair, so what? There are allot of things about life that aren't good or nice or fair but there are so many things in life that are wonderful, beautiful and awesome!
I have also learned that sometimes things happen for a reason and you may not find out until years later. I also have learned that in most cases what comes around goes around. People that lie, cheat, or are just nasty eventually, if you wait long enough, get what the deserve.
Don't give up. Keep fighting and working towards your goals. Life is a gift; enjoy it.

As old saying goes. Life is unfair. when you find some thing is unfair step back and look at. divide it in to sections. look at each event and see why it did not work. Confront the person ask why. If there is no replay you did nothing wrong. Just try some thing different We all have that problem sooner or later.
