There could well be a psychological reason, but I have no clue what it would be.

My take on it would be one of several options. Only you would know if it pertains to you or not.

After your experiences in life, you find intimacy a SCARY prospect and so the ROUGH part keeps it at arms length so to speak.

You could be just a boisterious kind of person. Someone who enjoys RUGBY and the like. This is just an EXTENSION of that rough and tumble play.

Autistic people find soft touch VERY uncomfortable. Yet, VERY FIRM contact helps them to relax. So, this could be a similar kind of thing. The mind is so complex we may never know the answers.

It could be an issue of feeling VULNERABLE so that it is better to be rough and ready rather than open and HURT.

It would be interesting for you to OBSERVE your sexual activity from the BALCONY of your life. (seeing yourself in it and watching what that is from a different perspective)

Worthy of pondering if you REALLY do want to KNOW why.

It's usually asscociated with an ego problem.
It's why men rape. Nothing to do with sex, only control.
Don't mean to scare you, but you asked.
