Outside the home or inside the home. In side the home the first thing you should do is take away their favorite food which is all sweet thing´s jam´s marmalade, honey as well as crumbs of all kinds , When finished in your kitchen or dinning room sweep or vacuum. wipe down counters, If you have pets remove their feeding dishes once finished with food. If you can find were they are coming from , then put BLACK PEPPER in an around the entrance to their tunnels. The ants will then carry this in to egg-laying queen´s nest , The queen ant will then move the ants out. Outside , the traditional method is to pour boiling hot water down their tunnels , but this has very little effect as it never reaches far enough in to kill the egg -laying queen. To combat the ants outdoors , dust the soil with HCH insecticide or destroy nest by pouring in a solution of HCH or trichorphon,

The best way is to find a poison that they take down into their den and then eat it but one time I was drinking a glass of iced tea and when I was through with the tea I then threw the ice on top of the ant hole and all of a sudden about two hundred ants came rushing out of the hole and swarmed the ice. I guess the coldness of the ice made the ants go into premature hibernation and they all just stopped moving. I picked up a few and they were barely moving so I went into the house and got some charcoal lighter fluid and torched the little buggers.

Don't buy those Terro baits, didn't work for me. I had great success with Peppermint Oil for getting rid of ants. Just clean up everything and whipe everything down with peppermint oil , they absolutely hate it and it leaves your house smelling nice too. Hope that helps.

I have a local pest company spray the entire perimeter of my house once a year and Ive NEVER had any ant or bug problems. Cost me about 90 dollars each time and is well worth it.

There is a product called Terro or somthing like that in a bright yellow box, it is a liquid they get and carry back to their home and it kills them all, GREAT stuff. I hope that is the name, i know it starts with a T and the box is bright yellow. Good luck.
