I got a letter from the saying 86,000 bucks. My name was attached to a lottery ticket and won 2nd prize. I aslo a check for 1,980. Its a real check but they want me to cash it and send the money back to pay the fees assosiated with the sponser. The check is from Tulsa, OK but the phone number I Called about it is in Alberta Canda. If I send it back they say my money after 10% taken out is 76,000. What should I do??????

Here's what happens. You go to the bank and cash it, and send the money to them, and pretty soon the bank calls and says that the check bounced and could you come right down and cover it with cash. So you're out $1980 and you never hear from them again. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's a scam.

Throw the check in the garbage and be glad you didn't get ripped off. It's an old scam. i got one of the letters saying I was an heir to someone overseas..blah, blah, blah. I had seen an article that the FBI was investigating this scheme so I contacted them, sent the info I had and have never heard anything. I still get the same e-mails so I guess they still aren't caught.

The check is probably stolen or forged. This is a scam. Not even a new one I am afraid. Your best bet is to give what ever information you have (including the check) to law enforcement. In KS, the attorney generals office handles these cases. You might check with your local authorities.

I JUST RECIEVED THE SAME LETTER IN THE MAIL ! I CALLED THE PHONE NUMBER AND LEFT A MESSAGE. I WILL NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION ABOUT ME,IF WE TRUELY WON WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO GO COLLECT IT. THE LETTER ALSO SAID THAT I WON THE LOTTERY PRIZE IN THE SECOND CATAGORY OF 86,000.00 DOLLARS
