I was there when both hit the air~and Outer Limits, too. Twilight Zone, especially the half-hour episodes, was like nothing we had seen before. "Where Is Everyone?" (Oct. 2, 1959) astonished us, and it was only the start of weekly jolts that took us places and taught lessons, too. Think about all of the episodes that come to mind. Even those who are very young know many of them: the man with the books who breaks his glasses; the old woman and the alien invaders; the Skid Row bum who becomes Santa Claus; the little boy who wishes people away to the cornfield; the man who sees the gremlin; the guy with three arms meets the guy with three eyes. I'm sure that you can think of dozens of others. (Yes, I do know the titles and actors, but didn't those brief decriptions make images pop into your head?)

Yes, AH Presents was remarkable, but, for some reason, episodes aren't run very often, which is unfortunate. When I hear people recalling Hitch's episodes, they usually refer to "Lamb to the Slaughter". They generally don't remember other episodes, not the way TZ memories surface. What do you remember?

TZ covered more territory than AHP: science fiction, fantasy, horror, and mystery. Stories ranged from tragedy to comedy. Then, there are the actors and actresses who would become stars and even superstars: Elizabeth Montgomery, Charles Bronson, Robert Redford, William Shatner (twice), Billy Mumy, Ronnie Howard, James Coburn and others. It also gave wonderful roles to established actors and actresses: Gladys Cooper (twice), Burgess Meredith (four times I think), Ann Blythe, Kevin McCarthy, Gig Young, Martin Balsam, Dana Andrews, and Buster Keaton. (I yield: The same can be said of AH's show.)

Remember my question from above? Try to recall AHP/AH Hour episodes. For some reason, very few come to mind for me, so give me some reminders. As I read the episode guide, I didn't recognize many of them. Honestly, I would love this series to be rerun again so that I could be surprised by the stories and the guest stars, as well as by Hitch's delightful appearances.
Twilight Zone gets my vote.

By the way: I'm very much an Outer Limits fan and have seen all of the episodes. I'd also like to mention a forgotten goodie: One Step Beyond, hosted by John Newland. Does anyone remember that?
