I had a day off. I had woke up very early that day, and was sitting, looking out the window at the beautiful beautiful sky, thinking about how lucky I was to have such a relatively easy life.
You won't believe it, but I was thinking about how good we have it, living in the USA, and how there are many people who want to take that away.
I hardly ever turned on my tv back then, and my mother called long distance to tell me something had happened at the world trade center.
I turned on the tv, and as they were showing reruns of the first tower being hit, the 2nd was hit. I thought it was a rerun again of the first tower.
My stepmom called me, crying and hysterical that the world was coming to an end.
My mom has sinced died of cancer....I think about the people who died that day, and also think about my mom....everyone's life ends eventually, and it is a tragedy, no matter how they die.
I am afraid, that by celebrating this day, that we give too much attention to the terrorists. Instead, let's celebrate "Chopping off Bin Laden's Head" day......SOON. Very soon.

Coventry UK.
At work in a meeting, one of the directors came in and said "A plane just hit the world trade centre"
My first thought was an accident, someone learning to fly making a terrible mistake. When the meeting finished I went back to my desk and got the news on the internet, shocked doesn't go anywhere near describing what I thought when I saw what had happened.

My Junior year in High School. I was in 2nd block, Earth Science class, when some girl in our class, who went to go get something for the teacher, came back and said a plane crashed into a building in New York. Then in my next class, a JROTC instructor came into our class and explained what had happened.

Getting ready to go out to pay a bill, I got a phone call to turn on the tv, I cried, wondering what in the world is going on in the world as we once knew it, I wanted my daughter by my side, but she was in high school and that was the best place for her to be.

Working at the courthouse. We were evacuated and as I rushed home on the capital beltway, a caravan of military vehicles a mile long sped past me. That's when it sunk in - we were under attack.

I was taking my two older children to school. I lived above my parents at the time. As I was going into my hallway my father told me the news. God bless us all.
