Hi I'm Jonty(Jonathan) Rhodes(not the cricket player). My wife Nathalie and I are expecting our first in a couple weeks. I'm South African and my wife is Australian so we decided not to have an Afrikaans name for the baby so it would be easier for my inlaws to pronounce. Oh yeah we don't live in the US, we live in South Africa. It's a baby boy so we've picked out a list of names. They are:

Brendon Dave
Brent Sebastian
Lleyton (Marcus or Brent)
Trenton Jack
Jaron Trent
Abraham Benjamin (we will call him AB sometimes)
Graeme Stephen (after both grandfathers of the child)
Joel Finn (after a really close friend and his baby son who passed away in the South-East Asia Tsunami Disaster)
Damien Harrison
Shaun Hayden
Bryan Xavier (Bryan is after my wife’s Nathalie’s brother who died in a car accident)

Our last name is Rhodes.

Please tell us which ones you like. Thanks to everyone in advance.

I personally like Abraham Benjamin (because of the biblical reference and how easy is A.B. to call him) and Graeme Stephen, because how special it is to be called after your grandparents... God bless you and congrats!

Well, it's hard for me to tell with names are popular in South Africa, since I'm American. All I can do is tell you which ones sound best to my American ears, lol.

I think Brendon Rhodes is cute. So is Brent Rhodes, Bryan Rhodes, Shaun Rhodes, and Damien Rhodes.

Joel Rhodes sounds a little funny to me, but I think it would be a great middle name.

Jaron, Abraham, Lleyton and Graeme are sort of unusual names (I think) where I live. They might be wildly popular where you live, I don't know. I don't think they're bad, just unusual. I can't get over Abraham, you know, like Abraham Lincoln, the president we had, and I'm not exactly sure how Lleyton and Graeme would be pronounced. That might get confusing, and the childs name might be frequently misprounced.

Anyway, thats about all the help I can give you. I hope you found it useful, and good luck with the baby!!!

My favorite out of the list is Bryan Xavier. But if it were me choosing a name for my son I'd go with Graeme Stephen, but only if the grandfathers didn't have other grandchildren named after them.

Bryan Xavier and Graeme Stephen. I think it's great to honor a family member with your child's name! A name should have some kind of important meaning! Good luck!

As a Mother of 4 I have some advice, since your last name is one syllable, I think his first name should have 2 syllables. It sounds better on the tongue. When you say the names, leave out the middle name because once he is over a few months old, he will not be using the middle name. In America, Damien is not a popular name, connection with the devil.
Bryon Xavier Rhodes

I'd suggest Graeme Stephen since both parents would share in this and of course it is quite a lovely name. Naming the child after ones who have died may cause some amount of memory that may hurt. You could consult with these persons however, if they would mind, if they don't you may want to consider these name (s) as pet names.

I like Graeme Stephen, I think its a nice meaningful name also Joel Finn. You could give him a long name Like Graeme Stephen Joel Finn Rhodes. When I couldn't decide on which two names to give my daughter I gave her all four. Congrats on the new baby and good luck on picking the name

I think you have some great choices. My favorites are:

Brent Sebastian ( I LOVE the name Sebastian...)
Joel Finn (I like the symbolism behind it)
Damien Harrison
Bryan Xavier (I also LOVE the name Xavier..that would have been my son's name but he is a Junior instead)

Good luck!

Bryan Xavier- I love the name Xavier!! I would try to incorporate a name that has meaning behind it! If not go for Graeme Stephen- He will always get to say I was named after my grandpas or my uncle who lived an awesome life.... will always be interesting story!
