No, your baby will be fine. Think back to the 70's and earlier when our grandmas had martinis everynight with their pack of Cools. It's absolutely fantastic that you have quit! It's the very very best thing for your baby!
It's completely normal and good mommy behavior to worry about that month before you knew!
Congratulations and Good luck!

Although there will be some residual toxins in your system ,
You are Not introducing any more toxins into your system and it should be flushing them .

That toxic soup is not good , But you cannot turn back the clock .
You have done the right thing by Not subjecting the child to additional poison .

Because there are some still in your system ,
I suggest asking your doctor for the best way to minimize the baby's exposure or google smoking and pregnancy to see what articles and recommendations are out there .

Congrats on doing the right thing for your child .
(FYI - I worked at a hospital for 10 years that specialized in deliveries . The number of pregnant & smoking women was appalling . There was an almost overwhelming urge to hit them upside the head with something , but rumor has it , the police would have taken Me away .)

Smoking while pregnant puts both mother's and baby's life at risk. Currently, about 13 percent of pregnant women in the U.S. smoke during pregnancy. If all pregnant women stopped smoking while pregnant, there would be an estimated 10 percent reduction in infant deaths in this country, according to the U.S. Public Health Service. Smoking while pregnant should be a cause for concern. Cigarette smoke contains more than 2,500 chemicals, with nicotine, tar, and carbon monoxide thought to be the most dangerous to the fetus.
The sooner a mother quits smoking, the better it will be for both her and her baby. If you currently smoke, it's not to late to do something about it. Quitting during the first trimester can greatly reduce the risk of having a baby with low birth weight — almost to that of a woman who doesn't smoke. The fewer cigarettes a woman smokes, the less likely her baby will be born with smoking-related problems.

Tell your doctor if you need help quitting. If you are a heavy smoker and have not been able to quit or cut down, you may be able to use a nicotine patch to help you quit while you are still pregnant. There are risks to using the patch during pregnancy, but the risk of heavy smoking may be greater.

I was the same way, I smoked for about 2 years and I quit as soon as I found out I was pregnant, at about a month into the pregnancy. My daughter is beautiful and was born PERFECT! Don't start smoking again and you'll be fine.

I also smoked the first month of my pregnancy. I asked my doctor and he told me that as long as I completly quit before the 2nd trimester that the baby would be fine. The only thing I found to help me was lots and lots of hard candy and suckers. Good Luck to you. And Congrats on the baby!

I have heard that if you stopped in the first 3 months, your chances are higher than if you didnt stop to have a healthy baby. Dont smoke or be around anyone who smokes cuz it could cause low birth weight and other resperatory problems for the baby. Eat right and take your vitamins, increase folic acid in your intake.

Your baby should be fine. Good for you for quitting!!!! If you continued to smoke or start to smoke again, however, there may be health issues with your child!
