I was off from work and a friend from Venezuela called me to tell me what was happening. Where were you? What were your reactions to an atrocious event that took place in American History.

*My respects for all the victims and their families.

I was on my way to teach. I had just dropped my daughters at their schools and heard that the first plane had hit the first tower it on the radio. That's when we all thought it was an accident. By the time I had gotten to school, the second one hit. The students I had been working with were college students and they were young. All they could do was cry and wonder if we were next, I think I was crying the hardest. I called my daughters schools and I was told they knew nothing, the children, I was glad to hear that.

My fincee`called me at work, He died one year later, to tell me he loved me and prayed that he would see me that night. I then called my Dad and told him I loved him and prayed for the same, no one knew at that time what was really going on and who was next to get hit. I could not get my Mom at work, NO ONE answered the stupid phone! I was mad and scared!

After school, I went and got them, took them home, they could see long lines at the gas pumps, they began to question me about why that was going on. I told them that when we got home I would be able to explain more to them. I told them what had happened. They watched some of the news with me, so they could see it, at the time my children were 9 and 5.

After about an hour or so, we watched the Disney channel like always, but in my room CNN or FOX or the local channels were on and I would pop in their for updates and to see what the rest of the worlds reaction was!

I did not loose anyone that day. I did learn a new respect for the human nature we all have. I also saw people helping even in Missouri, who did not have to go, they WANTED to go!

My husband is a fire fighter, I did not know him then. I have gotten to see 9/11 thru his eyes and thru the eyes of this fellow brothers in fire. Its a reminder that once together, we were and are UNBEATABLE!

wow i remember it like it was yesterday, I was in 9th grade in second period a girl was trying to test out of keyboarding class and went to the office and came back and told the teacher she turned on the tv to cnn and most of us didn't realize what was going on and we kept typing she told us we could stop so we did. We watched the second plane it, we didn't know what to make of everything. I live in Virginia about an hour away from the pentagon and many of my classmates have family that work there. Moments later another teacher came and told our teacher to turn the TV off right now, we didn't know that a plane hit the pentagon but there was so much speculation about where that plane went kids were saying that it hit the white house the capital building the washington monument and the pentagon. Many students where in tears trying to reach their parents via cellphone but the airwaves where crowded, we where in lock down the rest of the day. My mom works at an army base i was so scared that something might happen. I came home and watched the rest of the news with my dad. I prayed a whole lot that day and still do. God Bless.

I was driving to school and I had turned on the radio to listen to some Oldies. There was a long silence when I first turned it on and I thought it was malfunctioning again. Then the DJ started talking and said that there had been an explosion at one of the Towers. (it was the first one). I listened until I got to the parking lot. I got to class and my professor came in looking very grief stricken and explained that it was not an explosion, it was an airplane that had been deliberately directed at the Tower. He gave the news that a second plan had slammed into the other Tower.
He told us all to go home - the president of the university closed school for the day. I got back in the car and turned on the radio again. By that time, they were giving flight numbers and a rough estimate of the number of people on board.
I remember exactly what I had on that day - a short jean jumper and a pink polo shirt w/ my pink and white Adidas shell toes. The weather was SO beautiful that day.
I could barely walk up the back stairs of my parents' house....my legs were like jello I was so shocked and scared and sad. My mom met me at the door and I started bawling.
I was watching TV with my mom and sister when the building collapsed.
I'll never forget those details for as long as I live.

peace love & light

I had just woken up at home and gotten a cup of tea. I turned on the TV like usual to watch the morning news when I saw the first plane slam into the Trade Centre. I dropped the cup on the floor and sat down and just kept on watching until I couldn't watch any longer. That was when the news people were showing people leaping out of the windows to escape from burning to death. Some were holding hands, some weren't, but I've never seen the footage since then (thank God) but I've had nightmares since then about it. After that I turned off the TV and cried for the rest of the day. Just like I'm going to now.

I was sitting here at work. I have a radio in my office and I heard it on the radio. It was awful. They keep breaking in and giving updates. But what was really bad was when I got home that evening and saw it for the first time on CNN. It was so much more real when I saw it on TV.
I don't know if we as a country will ever recover from it.
God bless the family and friends of the victims of 9/11.
NEVER FORGET!!!!!!!!

I was in college, in my early class when it happened. Of course we don't have tv in the classroom, so no one knew what happened. When I got out of class, I remember that absolutely everyone was on their cell phone. I thought it was odd, but didn't think about it too much (my campus's nickname is "snob hill" after all). I didn't have a cell at the time. I sat behind the library and read for three hours, all the while having no idea what had happened. When I went to my afternoon class, the professor came in and gave a very emotional speech. He had obviously been crying. I had no idea what was going on, and no one would give me a good explanation, other than the WTC had been bombed. I was picturing something like the last time it happened. The professor didn't keep us for class, he told us to go home, think about the state of the world and the kind of world we would like to live in, and if we pray, to pray. I ran home as fast as I could, which still took me about 25 minutes. When I turned on the tv it was just overwhelming, I remember that my knees buckled and I started crying. Then my home phone rang - my mom had been trying to get ahold of me for hours and was absolutely freaking out. I spent the rest of the day in kind of a daze.

I was at home. I was 10 years old. I had the day off from school, because my teachers had a retreat conference. It was about 8:30, and I was watching an infomercial (I loved those things). I was getting bored, so I changed the channel to CBS. Then, the reporters broke in with news of the first flight crashing in New York. I was flipping out, because my best friend's dad worked there. I was relieved, though--the plane had hit the other tower. I was still freaking out, though. I emailed my friend to find out if his dad was working, and he was lucky. Because he had the day off as well, his dad was going to take him to breakfast and then go up to their cottage. I was relieved that he wasn't in the towers. I had just gotten the response from him when I turned around and SAW THE SECOND PLANE HIT. At this time, I just broke down. I couldn't take it anymore. I ran upstairs and woke up my dad to tell him what happened, and he told me it was all going to be fine. He was wrong. I watched each of the towers buckle and then collapse into rubble. I was so angry, so scared, and so confused that I ran to my mom's school (she's a teacher, but she had classes that day). I went into her room to tell her what happened, and she just broke down. One of her friends' daughters worked in the South Tower. She was able to get out just two minutes before the South Tower collapsed. Once I got home, I asked my dad if this was the start of World War III. He answered in the most serious tone I have ever heard: "Yes, it probably is."

I was at work and I can remember watching it on tv thinking that this was some type of terrible mistake. I also remember getting a call from my Air National Guard Unit, telling me to be on stand-by. I kept thinking, "stand-by for what, where". It was a very difficult day and the days after.
