A- Since it is really chemically seen as H+ -- O2- --H+. Looking at it this way, it can solvate the negative and form the hydroxide, or with positive to cause hydronium.

It has partial positive and partial negative charges, and so either side can face an ion - of opposite charge, of course. Answer "a".
