I know it is the richest contract ever for a rookie, and the Raiders will probably play him. But at the same time he could learn alot from a Veteran like Duante Culpepper.

He has had, what, one practice so far with the team? He isn't seeing the playing field for at least 4 weeks. He has to learn the offense before he can ever set foot on the field. I am sure he will see some action this season, but not for a while.

You are joking right??? He has never even played with the team and he has never played in the NFL. Jamarcus will be warming a bench this year and getting a whole lot of money for it. Culpepper starting this year maybe.....but even though the Raiders lost McCown was #2 in passing yards this week. I personally would like to see Culpepper as starting QB and I think you are right Jamarcus could learn alot from him.

#1 Russell is so far behind anything remotely close to a learning curve that you may not now see him for a very long time. As for learning under Culpepper, it may not be the best example of a quarterback. It's a tough choice that Lane Kiffen has to make, and it's one that will affect the Raiders for a very long time.

#2 Don't bank on him being worth that, he wasn't even worth that much in college, can anyone say another David Klingler?

Culpepper sucks and always has, i wouldn't risk tainting Aunt-Jamarcus' limited brain-width with anything Culpepper has to show. All he ever did was wait for Moss' hand to go up and throw the ball as hard as he could in his general direction, and oh yea...run with the ball. Play the greedy rookie!

No way in hell he'll play after missing training camp and the preseason. Hey may see some PT later in the year, but I wouldn't count on it any time soon. For now, he can enjoy his nice little paycheck and keep out of trouble. He can take some notes from the Mike Vick Book of Terrible Decisions. There isn't just football learning to be done out there.

Putting a rookie into a road game - a very hostile road game at that - who held out and hasn't played much with the team would be a HUGE mistake for the Raiders. If they want to destroy his confidence, by all means, play him.

I think the Broncos are a bit perturbed at their performance in Buffalo, squeaking by on the last-second field goal. They hate the Raiders - as good people everywhere should. They tend to be motivated by this rivalry. Broncos Win! Russell sits.

Reality check!! Russell missed all of training camp and the preseason. He shouldn't even suit up this week! His chance at being a starter has to wait until next year!

Of course not. hes not even going to dress out. For a rookie to miss that much of training camp and preseason is unheard of. For him to be a QUARTERBACK for that matter makes this holdout situation even more ridiciolous. You will be lucky to see him take a snap before week 8.

What's Culpepper going to teach him? How to suck? I bet he does that without any help.

Reality check - If you don't use Russell you won't win 1 game this year.
