Well. For the lenght of the flight, we know that it goes at 6 meters a second. So if it goes 12 meters.
Then it sill be 12/6 which is 2 seconds.

I hope that this helps

2. FInal Velocity

Since there is acc. due to gravitation (g),

v^2 - u^2 = 2as
=> v*v - 6*6 = 2*g*12
=> v*v - 36 = 2 * 9.8 * 12
=> v = sqrt(271.2)
=> v = 16.47 m/s

1. Time of Flight
v = u + at
=> 16.47 = 6 + g*t
=> t = (16.47-6)/g
=> t = 10.47/9.8
=> t = 1.068 sec

1. how long is it in flight = 1.06 sec
2. the speed of the stone just before it hits the ground. = 16.47 m/s

Hope this helps!

Direction of initial velocity is not given.

If it is horizontal, then vertical velocity is zero. So using
s = (4.9)t^2
12 = (4.9)t^2 gives t = 1.56 s
Speed of stone when it hits the ground is
v = 9.8t = (9.8) (1.56) = 15.3 m/s.

If the stone is thrown with a vertically downward velocity 6 m/s, then
12 = 6t + (4.9)t^2 which gives on solving t = 1.07 s
and v = 6 + (9.8)t = 6 + (9.8)(1.07) = 16.5 m/s.

Not enough information. What is the direction of the velocity vector? Are you throwing vertically, horizontally, or what?
