The best laminate worktops for not showing marks are satin textured black.
I am a kitchen fitter and i use the best laminate around i.e. Formica, Axiom and Getalit.
I avoid selling gloss worktops because of customer complaints.
If the use is light then they do look good but not very likely to be light use in a kitchen.
Just a point ensure any masons mitre joints are bonded with colorcore adhesive, clamped and biscuit jointed.
Hoover all the dust off any sink or hob cutouts and cover the cut edge with silicone sealant to prevent any ingress of moisture

With no offense to you or other answers; you leave out details such as WHAT the surface function will be. You also don't state any notion about TYPE of material.

Obviously there are positives and negatives about not only marks and scratches, but the intended use of a work top and the material you choose for it.

Certainly a TOP that is used for food prep is far different than a Wire solder work bench top for techs, etc.

Beyond that; but in defining the PURPOSE, there will be issues involving your choice that have little or nothing to do with SHEEN.

That might be no more than a personal choice as to Shiny or Dull. Each will likely require cleaning, and that depends on the USE intended.

Hi - Definitely matt. You should also remember that laminates are darkbrown/black under the surface finish so the slightest scratch or mark on a light coloured worktop will show very clearly.

Shiny dark ones will show every scratch and speck.
Shiny light ones will show the scratches.
I chose matt finish, and use a chopping board. The tea stains are the only thing that bug me. But they bleach off.

Matt is what i suggest but if you want your fingerprint not to be obvious, granite would do. http://www.houseofcorinth.com or http://kitchen-worktops.net would really help you decide. It also depends with the colour of your cabinets or the color of your ceiling and wall. Sky, if you seek for affordable worktops, i suggest you go with Tri-Stone.co.uk. Same quality with corian worktops yet quite far affordable

Shiny because you can always wash and polish and have a high standard of hygiene, where as Matt will st ll accumulate some germs.
