I have a two stroke Victa strimmer that was running , albeit quite poorly, but cut out and will not start now. There is a good strong blue spark, compression of about 45 - 50 psi, i am using a fresh fuel /oil mix. When i removed the air filter i noticed that the fuel mix was being blown out of the carb inlet when i pulled the cord. I removed the carb and when looking through the inlet port i can see the piston but at no time during its cycle does it uncover the inlet port. So how can the fuel mix get into the cylinder? Any help or advice would be welcomed.

Small engine repair shop would be my advice. Beyond that, I'm clueless.

Although I might suggest asking in a category other than cars and transportation for answers.

The compression sounds about right. If it's blowing fuel/air back then the inlet is connected to the crankcase, as it should be. The blowback is normally captured in the air filter for the next inlet cycle. The 2 stroke sequence is "Piston up: mixture into crankcase, charge compressed in cylinder and sparked. Piston down: Burnt gas escapes through exhaust, mixture passes through transfer port into cylinder. For all this to work the timing of the piston covering and uncovering the ports and the gas flow has to be just so. I would suspect the exhaust is blocked with carbon and burnt oil. It's also possible the ignition timing has slipped. Again it's got to be spot on for a 2 stroke to run. I would suggest you find a garden machinery dealer to take a look at it, or else get the service book and some background material on 2 stroke engines before you start stripping it yourself.

If there is a spark and fuel it will start. Have you cleaned the fuel filter in the carb?

Are you positive its a 2 stroke, Victa usually just make 4 strokes?
