I was in 6th grade, 11 years old.
When the 1st plane crashed I was at my bus stop, 7:45ish central time.
I didn't know about the attacks till I got to class. My teacher had gone to the office for a while. She came back running and turned on the tv to CNN. I had no idea what was happening. I just saw a tower burning, people jumping out of the building, media talking, & then the second plane crashed, then a third & then a fourth. I didn't know why people would do this. We were on lock down for the rest of the day.
They were afraid that terrorist were going to bomb Ingalls, which is a Navy shipbuild system, where my dad works. Cause the terrorist already had bombed The Cole, the year before, which Ingalls had built. My mom was glued to the tv 24/7 after that. We were scared and wanted to flee the country.

Well, I was at home been up for awhile, just had not turned on the tv yet, I was leaving the house heading to the car dealership actually to pick up the new car I bought, I turned on the radio, and heard on the commotion on the news, I was at first thinking it was a fake broadcast, but it startled me enough I ran back inside the house turned on the tv and seen the towers one in flames in one section, and the other, was still standing. Then I heard the reporter say they were sending in more fire fighters up to the top to rescue people, and when they did that the 2nd plane hit the towers and there was a loud explosion on the tv and then the tower was gone... I was in utter shock and amazment I just could not believe what I was seeing. I was yelling at the tv to get the fire fighters out of the building..

I just walked into the clubhouse of a jobsite I was running as a Subcontractor Superintendent and saw on the t.v. that a building was on fire. I ask the General Contractor if he was watching a movie and he said no that the World Trade Center had just got hit by an airplane and right when he said that I saw the camera man pan out and saw the other plane hit the other tower. Totally was pissed and knew then it was war with some one.

I had just put my oldest son on the school bus when the first plane hit. I walked over to my grandmother's house to have breakfast with her when the news broke. We were watching the Today Show when the second plane hit and when the Pentagon was struck. I remember that day and the days and weeks that followed were very sad and I stayed glued to the tv to find out more information about what was going on.

i was at home waiting to collect my daughter from school, having a little bit of lunch when i turned on the tv, i thought it was a film at first and then realised that what i was seeing was real, i remember being shocked and stunned at such a thing to happen, i thought it was an accident at first but then the second plane hit and of course it later emerged that it was a terrorist attack. i'll never forget that day. my thoughts are with the families for their tragic loss.

I was getting ready to go to a meeting at 2 WTC with my manager. Co-workers stormed into my office broke the news to me and I just drop to my chair. All I could think of was my sister, and other family members that worked at the WTC. I try to reach her no response. My brother in law no where to be found. My son was the only person who was able to get through my office line and he was concerned about his aunt and at the time his fiance's mother. Things happened for a reason; that day my love ones changed their normal routines. My sister normally eats breakfast indoors..that day she went out of the WTC to get breakfast...one cousin did not go into work he worked for high profile investment firm that was located on a very high floor if I am not mistaken it was 80 something. He has relocated to a Chicago office and the others too made it out alive...As far as my sister, I did not hear from her..When I finally made it home by foot from 59th St. and Lexington Ave..I pray to God that it would be my sister at the door when I rang the door bell. My sister open that door and I threw myself into her arms.. It took them all awhile to get their lives back on track. They are all doing ok..Thank you God!!!

It was my 2nd week of my freshmen year of college. The cable guy still hadn't come to campus yet to hook our cable TV up so all of us were streaming the news on our computer.
We were all in shock--two weeks after moving off to college, it felt like the world was coming to an end. A few people from my dorm dropped out of classes after that and transfered to colleges closer to their hometowns.

i was asleep. my brother screamed turn your tv on and at the same time the phone rang it was my boss asking me to be in at 1pm instead of three. i ran to the computer and found the story instantly. my heart sank. i had a friend who lived there. so i began praying, then my frantic boyfriend called wanting to know what to do.
6 years later and watching the footage of those attacks brings all of those old emotions back
