= 5y - (2y - 10) - 25
= 5y - 2y + 10 - 25
= 3y - 15

= 2/3(x - 2) - 1 - 1/4(x - 3)
= 2/3x - 4/3 - 1 - 1/4x + 3/4
= 5/12x - 1 7/12

= 9/10y - 7/10 - 21/5
= 9/10y - 4 9/10

1. 5y - 2y + 10 - 25 = 3y - 15

2. 2/3x - 4/3 -1 -1/4x + 3/4 = 5/12x - 19/12 = 5/12x - 1 7/12

3. 9/10y - 49/10 = 9/10y - 4 9/10

1. 5y-(2y-10)-25
5y+(-1)2y+(-1)10-25
5y-2y+10-25
combine like terms to get:
3y-15

2. 2/3(x-2)-1-1/4(x-3)
2/3(x)+2/3(-2)-1-1/4(x)-1/4(-3)
2/3x-4/6-1-1/4x+3/12
you need to have the same denominators
and #/same # = 1
4(2/3x)-2(4/6)-12/12-3(1/4x)+3/12
8/12x-8/12-12/12-3/12x+3/12
8/12x-3/12x-8/12-12/12+3/12
combine like terms to get:
5/12x-17/12

3. 9/10y-7/10-21/5
you need to have the same denominators
9/10y-7/10-2(21/5)
9/10y-7/10-42/10
combine like terms to get:
9/10y-49/10

I hope that this helps you out

Remember
* If you expand an expression in ( ), each term in the expression is multiplied by the constant outside the ( ). In problem 1, the constant is understood to be 1.
* Combine like terms. Constants are combined with constants. Variable terms to the 1st power are combined with similar variables terms to the 1st power.
* Fractions are handled the same as they were in the 6th grade.
With that, you should have no problems.
