Zell Miller was the last.
Salazar of Colorado is the most conservative in the Senate these days.

There are quite a few centrist or even 'conservative' democratic politicians in DC. James Webb, the Senator from VA, is such an example.

“Blue Dog” Democrats consist of conservative Democrats and some moderates. You can look up the lists of such Democrats if you are really interested.

There are many conservative Democrats, as there areliberal Republicans. Look for the candidates that are closest to the middle. Edwards and Clinton are, for example, rather conservative Democrats. Guilliani is a liberal Republican. The most liberal Republicna ever was, believe it or not, Ronald Reagan. One of the most conservative Democrats would be Harry Truman.

Not really. Lieberman was a conservative Democrat and they threw him under the bus. He is now an Independent.
Many of his friends in Ct. turned on him, like his long time friend and presidential candidate Chris Dodd.

I am a conservative democrat. I'm on the democrat side of the aisle because the republican party with its religious extremism doesn't speak to me like it did in my youth. However, while I am fiscally conservative, I am socially liberal. That way I get to irritate the greatest number of people here on Y/A with a single answer.

Many southern democrats are conservative, Zell Miller for one. He would probably be a conservative right winger in New Hampshire or Vermont, but in the south he is a dem.

Yes, I remember that guy a couple of years ago (oh yes, Zell Miller) who stood and told off his sick party, But they're as rare as hen's teeth.
While I wouldn't really call Lieberman a conseravative, he was still kicked out for having an ounce of decency and because he wasn't totally rotten enough to be in there.
The party really needs to be shut down by the authorities, because it will eventually wind up destroying the U.S.
