One of the main reasons was due to loss of habitat from farming. However they were also poached in high numbers.

Sadly it is a fate that all species of tigers have had to face. Some have not made it and have since been forced into extinction, those that are left are not too far behind.

Is The Caspian Tiger Extinct

Keep in mind that this species is extinct in the wild, not extinct altogether. There are still caspian tigers in zoos around the world. They mainly became extinct in the wild due to encroachment by humans, deforestation and poaching. As with most large mammals today, these three factors are decimating wildlife and must be addressed before the goal of returning animals where they belong (one of the stated goals of most zoos) can be realized.
