There is no average really. Just take a look at all these pics and you will see that their spots vary dramatically. some don't even have spots at all. There is also the Asian Lady beetle that has white spots on their heads. Both species not only vary in spots, but color as well.

It depends on the particular specie of Ladybird Beetle.
