Well many people get lots and lots of stuff. But since she will not remember it or even understand or be interested, just get her stuff that she needs and one toy.
Save the big Christmas' when she will enjoy and remember them.

My daughter was 11 days old on her first christmas, and she got an electronic ball that lights up and makes noise from one grandma, a stacking ring set from her uncle and outfits and diapers and a pooh bedding set and matching hamper. I got her a keepsake care bears ornament. My suggestion is this: If you can, and have no older children, push christmas back a few days to a week. Take a set amount of money and brave the day after xmas sales. Take her with you, she'll probably enjoy looking at everyone and everything, and you can let her "pick" a few toys as well as some great bargains on clothes(they grow soo freaking fast, my 9 month old is now in 18 mo clothing). She'll never know it was late and as long as you have pics it'll be a fun "memory" for you at least, lol. Good luck!

Hey! Well my daughter will be around 9 months for her first Christmas and while I love the thought of her having a big first Christmas, I am keeping it to a mininum...she really won't be interested in them anyways. I think a couple of toys and maybe some Disney movies is all we are doing for my daughter. Besides, extended family always buys gifts for the babies anyways. So my advice would be to keep it small and let the family buy the most gifts!

My son was 5mths last Christmas and i went abit mad with it being his first Christmas. Family and friends go abit mad 2 so you end up with far to much.
I think the most important things i got him were a walker which is something your going to buy anyway if not already. I got him special Christmas baby grows, bibs and an outfit for the day. You just need to take plenty of photos and if you want to spend alot with it being his first Christmas you can buy little first Christmas Teddy's and photo albums. These are things you can keep forever as memory's of there first Christmas.
Obviously its nice to get them a toy or 2 but not to go to mad as they wont really remember.

My husband and I were at odds about this topic last Christmas (our son was 8 mos.). I'm a spender, he is not. I wanted to buy all kinds of toys, etc. but my husband insisted we just get a few small things, so that's what we did. He got tons of stuff from Grandma, Grampy, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins, etc. I hate to admit it but my husband was right. In the end he had tons to open (which he hadn't really mastered yet) and play with and had a great Christmas. I don't think it's really necessary to go all out at this young age.

My daughter will be 7 months old around that time also. I plan to buy her an activity table and clothes and that's it. She will need 9-12 months stuff by then. Grandma and Grandpa will buy tons of toys i'm sure so I am just getting the big one out of the way!

My daughter was 10 months old at Christmas last year. We got her a present ( the big Fisher Price train with all the zoo animals) and her grandparents got her a present. She actually laid over on her prersent and tried to fall asleep. What time she was awake she was trying to take the bows off of everybody's presents. She really enjoyed the bows more than her presents, it was funny. Everybody joked and said we could have saved money and just bought her a bag of bows.

My little girl will be 5 months and we've planned on getting her a few little things that she might need anyway (outfits, age appropriate toys) but since she's the first grandchild all around, and the first girl born on both sides since 89', she's gunna get spoiled rotten this year.
Focus on making a stocking or an ordament for her for the tree to make it special. My parents did that and we always look forward to picking out our "baby's first christmas" stuff and hanging it.

It is her first Christmas so she will not remember it but you will, what most parents do is get a few small things like toys, but remember she will grow out of those really quick, so get things you need for her and maybe something to remember as her first Christmas gift that she can keep forever!
