Government death squads ravaging Baghdad

Sep. 5- Death squads from the Ministry of Interior posing as Iraqi police are killing more people than ever in the capital, emerging evidence shows.

The death toll is high -- in all 1,536 bodies were brought to the Baghdad morgue in September. The health ministry announced last month that it will build two new morgues in Baghdad to take their capacity to 250 bodies a day.

Many fear a government hand in more killings to come. The US military has revealed that the 8th Iraqi Police Unit was responsible for the Oct. 1 kidnapping of 26 Sunni food factory workers in the Amil quarter in southwest Baghdad. The bodies of ten of them were later found in Abu Chir neighborhood in the capital.

Minister for the Interior Jawad al-Bolani announced he is suspending the police unit from official duties, and confining it to base until an investigation is completed.

If he expects to keep his military career intact, Petraeus will only talk about those issues which his insane Commander-In-Chief wants talked about.
Has anyone considered the 'coincidence' that Petraeus' testimony came one day before the 6th anniversary of 9-11; that Osama binLaden released a videotape at virtually the same time; and that binLaden released another videotape on 9-11?? Is it possible to conclude that the Bush administration had a hand in all this 'timing' in an effort to instill fear in American citizens and garner more support for Bush's continued runaway war spending?
Anyone who still believes this obscene 'war' is about defending our country's borders from 'terrorists' and an unidentified 'evil empire' is incredibly naive.
Anyone who still thinks this immoral 'war' is about bringing democracy to Iraq is simply gullible.
Anyone who assumes this unconstitutional 'war' will help establish peace in the Middle East is out of touch.
This illegal, unjustifiable 'war' is - and always has been - about OIL and WAR PROFITEERING. Nothing else.
Read Jim Hightower's column in the September, 2007 edition of "The Hightower Lowdown" On Page 4 he addressed 'the other fight for Iraq's oil" - and explains how Big Oil has infiltrated the Bush 'benchmarks' to include ownership of Iraq's oil fields by foreign corporations. -RKO- 09/11/07

Oh but haven't you heard, everything is just goodness and light in Iraq? Soon they will be throwing us kisses and strewing flower petals before our feet as we march triumphantly down mainstreet Baghdad. Ooh, sorry that was what we were told 4 years ago. Mission accomplished they told us. Once a mission is accomplished shouldn't we come home? The opera is over the fat lady has warbled her last aria.

Because he is a talking head for the Bush administration

I find it interesting that our government is excited about reduced violence in the last 8 out of 12 weeks. Well, let me think, that is reduced violence 2/3 of the time for a percentage of 66.6%. I do not know about all of you, but a 66.6 is a failing grade to be sure. I would not even give it an F+

If our war money was given out like our educational dollars (associated with No Child Left Behind) then the war would have to end due lack of funds because of failed policy. Schools that receive failing grades on their standardized testing have their funding reduced or removed (all based on benchmarks). But our current administration and law makers fear the word benchmarks when it is associated with their accountability with the needless war in Iraq.

BUT REMEMBER--MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

The Patreus report is about the impact of U.S. forces on Iraq, not about internal police issues. The situation mentioned is not an actua; proven fact either and does not necessarily impact the military mission in Iraq.
