It's now been 6 YEARS since the 9/11 attacks took place and Osama bin Laden STILL hasn't been brought to justice for the murders of the 3,000 who died that day, because Bush focused on invading a country that was in no way involved in the attacks instead of capturing the actual culprit and bringing him to justice. Thanks to Bush's actions, we are involved in a disastrous war with no end in sight, the global terrorist situation has been exacerbated, and Osama bin Laden is still a free man. At least if bin Laden had been captured, it would have sent the world the message that anyone who dared to attack the US would face dire consequences.

Do terrorists threaten to attack Sweden ??

The world would be a far safer place with different American foreign policy altogether.

I don't think Bush ever intended to capture OBL, what excuse would he then then have to remove the Iraqi regime ?

No, he needs to string it out for his own business and domestric policy needs. I can hear Bush now......."hey, we're fighting a war on terror and an axis of evil, so lets not worry about the domestic situation for now, we've got a war to win"...standard distraction technique used by many leaders over the years.

shame so many people are loosing there lives on both sides for a "created" war with so many (not so hidden ) agendas.

Here is something you probably haven't considered before:

As evidenced by his deafening silence of late, Osama Bin Laden is probably physically, if not mentally, incapacitated. In his last video, he moves only 3-1/2 minutes; the rest is a still image. I don't think he's even lucid most of the time. I think the last attack physically devastated him, and his mind is going.

Now, that's a good thing for the Western world. With a figurehead at the helm of the terrorist movement, nothing dynamic can be carried out. They can't insult Bin Laden by having someone else take control. It would be like Christians telling the Pope he's yesterday's news.

With a trapped and crippled Bin Laden, they probably even haven't tried to plan another attack on U.S. soil.

Here's one thing we do know: Bin Laden has instructed his protectors to kill him, rather than let him be captured, if an assault is ever waged against their hiding place. I believe we've known where Bin Laden is for at least four years. However, we are patiently biding our time for that one, elusive opportunity (such as a celebration, or some change in their routine) to capture him alive.

The U.S. has surveillance techniques that have never even been publicly advertised. We know that the U.S. has satellites that can read a license plate from orbit; I find it difficult to believe we haven't actually found OBL. Speaking of secret surveillance techniques, I wouldn't be surprised if the U.S. has even devised a way to "chemically tag" OBL, or get a transmitter into his camp. There are transmitters a third the size of a watch battery. It could be anywhere. He might have even swallowed one. (remember all the crazy ways the CIA had to kill Castro? Imagine how much more advanced the surveillance techniques are now, forty years later!)

OBL is getting the justice he deserves. He's forced to live in hardship, practically without companionship. He has scant entertainment, and I doubt they're shuttling any "comfort women" to keep him from being lonely.

In due time, we'll nab him.

You know, history states that if it isn't one, then it will be another. 15 years ago, Bin Laden wasn't even a thought. At least to the mass majority of the America populous. Yes, I think many Americans would feel a new found sense of security, but there still lurks with in me one question. Why hasn't Bin Laden been found yet. The American government has never had trouble with the philosophy, "Seek and Destroy". There's more to the war in Iraq than Laden. The country is a speck on the map. We could find him if we wanted to but we're not. See it doesn't make any sense that the US Army plans to evacuate 30k troops in the up coming new year. With ole Bin still evading us, why would we withdraw empty handed?
Anyways, first it was Saddam, now it's Laden, then is to be.
America will continue to reign as the worlds leading supper power, that I can promise. "We don't have anything to fear but fear itself" Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Yes, not because of the threat he poses but because of the ability of the US to get the job done. Everyday he is free is a day of defeat. We need to show the world that we can do the job against terrorism not forgo the mission because of political dysfunction. The US's inability to catch him despite spending billions is one of the reason's we aren't that popular with other countries and everyday we languish in this war proves our inability to do the job right.
Bush had the backing of the world against Bin Laden. We all understood the fight but now the focus on Iraq has made us look myopic.

I honestly feel no more or less safer since 9/11 in that respect. What makes me feel unsafe is that Bush continually seems to put us more at risk by offending other countries with this democratic world view propaganda(guess what, not every country is democratic Bush). Eventually, he will piss off Iran and China to the point where we will be on the verge of a much worse problem. We need to get Osama for sure, then we need to oust the moron who refuses to acknowledge him.

Yeah, I would, though the need for vigilance would still be with us.

Bin Laden and his crew are known to think that Americans are soft in the face of pressure. Bush and friends in this country are quick to point to this as justification for invading Iraq.

The irony, of course, is that Bush, in NOT pursuing Bin Laden, merely reinforces the Bin Laden and Al Qaeda perception of Americans as soft and unfocused.

I don't really think Bin Ladens capture would make me feel safer, because if he didn't lead his band of terrorist's someone else would. Now I wish he were captured and punished but I don't think I'd feel safer, because all of his angry twisted followers would just go home and decide to live their lives in peace since Osama was dead, they'd stay mad, find a new leader and still kill for their messed up religions sake. Finding one single person when they could be anywhere in the entire world is not as easy as it sounds I mean sometimes I can't find my wife in wal-mart without calling her cellphone so imagine finding one man when he has the entire world to hide in, it's not as easy as you make it sound.

Assuming that OBL actually exists.... I think it would have had a demoralizing impact on his followers. It would have also sent the message that the west is capable of backing up it's rhetoric.

Alas, by not capturing him we have sent the opposite messages and I fear encouraged his followers.

The reality is that in a free society no one is ever completely safe from the actions of some nutcase (Nutcases on the street and political nutcases (sometimes called leaders) whereever they may be). But we can't waste our lives worrying about the unknown...Don't worry be happy!

Bin Laden is a crazed man. He definitely needs to be taken out. On the other hand, one of his flunky peons will take his place. America will jump with joy when he is caught, and I say when, not if.

And what would you say if Bush had not done anything? Just because we are in Iraq, there are men in uniform, in Afghanistan as well, searching for Bin Laden and his butt wipers. Do you not understand that Bush is wanting to fight against terrorism over there, not here???? If it comes to our land in more force than even 9/11...you do not need to be crying for the president to do something then. I'm all for taking Bin Laden out. Too bad Clinton didn't do it when he had the chance. Oh well, Bush is at least trying to clean up that mess by finding Laden. The government DOES NOT tell every American citizen what their plan is. I have faith and trust in our leader, to do what he thinks is best, be it Rep. or Dem. It is the respectful thing to do.

Well I'd feel like the President weren't such a blow hard, and I might have just a little respect for Bush/Cheney, and yes I would feel more secure for just the reason you stated. Next time the President says, "we gonna get you", it would be believable. As it is it was just Bush blowing hot air. What a loser.

GET BIN LADEN moron.
