I notice you did not mention how many of the dead Iraqis were killed by the terrorists and by inter-tribal conflict. Did anyone really believe that terrorists would just give up and walk away or disputes and grievances would suddenly go away? This is a war. People die. At least I have never seen a war where people have not died.

If you think it is somehow remarkable that the government of Iraq is having difficulty getting it's problems sorted out, you probably are not a student of the Founding Fathers of the United States. Things did not go swimmingly in the founding of America. In fact, it almost did not happen at all.

Then there was the Civil War. It took quite a few deaths before we got that sorted out as well. Founding a workable government that accommodates all sides it no cake walk. Especially for people who have never known freedom and have rivalries going back hundreds of years.

It may not be possible. But all we are saying is give peace a chance. Only by reconsiliation can there be a real and lasting peace in Iraq. You cannot force people to do it. They have to find a way. Let's give them time.

Saddam murdered more than that all on his own. Be glad he's not still in power.
It's sad that the Iraqi people are unable to live in a world without violence of their own making as i am sure you have noticed more than 3/4 of those death's were due to IED's,car bombs and suicide bombers.
Let me also mention some of the Iraqi's more touching acts of kindness to each other such as : throwing gas on children and lighting them on fire and strapping bombs to children.
Perhaps the wrong Iraqis are dieing.

Yup things are just peechy, you should have seen it when Russia turned communist now that was messed up. People are just "OMG" about Iraq because none of their generation have witnessed a real war in quite a long time. The last big one was Vietnam? and the people talking about Iraq were like kids back then and didn't really understand it.
