I often get $7, $12 or similar worth of Checks from my friends and the bank of America is little far off from my place. I was wondering if a check can be deposited online or not?

if yes how and if not how can I prevent myself from going to the bank to deposit such checks and still accomplish the task.

Thanks and appreciations in advance.

1. You could go to an ATM machine, and make deposits there.
2. You could mail the checks to the bank.
3. If the same person or company is sending you checks regularly, they could get set up for EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer), but that wouldn't make sense if its different people paying you every time. There's one company that send checks to my company via EFT, but they do it regularly. Its quick and easy, but the sender and the receiver both have to be set up on their computers to do it.

The bank actually has to have the check to process it, so no, there is not a way to deposit it online. If you have an ATM/Debit card you can deposit into any bank's ATM for no charge. What happens if you do this is the bank that you deposited into processes the check and sends the information to your banks federal reserve branch who inturn sends the info to your bank. This is a good option and it really only makes the processing time about a day longer than just driving it to your bank.

BOA doesn't allow for online deposits, but amazing as it sounds some institutions do. They are limited and very few and usually require you to mail the check to them anyway.
Just go to BOA website and find the nearest place to mail them too. You'll have to wait about a week, but you won't have to go to the bank.
