Unfortunately I have very selfish reasons for the memories of this day... It was one of the last "good" days my ex husband and I spent together. I remember us both being so grateful to have one another to hold during such tragedy when so many others were loosing their families. Little did I know I'd soon be loosing mine for a very different reason!

By coincidence, I turned the TV on, to get the late news before going to bed (it was late evening in Australia). At first, I couldn't work out what was going on, because there was footage of smoke coming out of the WTC, but the live news coverage was a bit haphazard. It took a while for it to sink in, then a mate of mine rang me to tell me to turn the TV on, and I told him I already had. Just about then, the second plane hit the building. I ended up staying up all night.

I was in my office. I watched the first ten minutes of what was happening, then went back to work, knowing that it would be broadcast and re-broadcast and re-broadcast for the next several weeks. -RKO- 09/11/07
