(1) The Kurds have about 20 % of the population of Iraq and about 20% of all the oil. All they want is their independence. They will attack nobody. With our troops on their borders, Turkey and Iran would not dare to attack Kurdistan.

(2) The Shi'ites have over 60 % of the population and about 80% of all the oil. They control the government and the army and the national police. We have been arming and trainig them for several years. They are being secretly helped by Iran. Through their militias, they are pushing the Sunnis out of the Baghdad region in spite of our efforts to stop them.

(3) The Sunnis have less than 20% of the population and none of the oil. From 1924 to 2003, they had all the guns and all the oil and kept the Kurds and the Shi'ites in poverty.

while stealing their oil. Now that Bush spoiled the fun, they are trying to stop the Shi’ites from pushing them out of the Baghdad area. Their army was destroyed, but they have an endless supply of martyrs with dynamite vests, coming mostly from Saudi Arabia.

(5) Most of the Sunnis have been pushed out of the Baghdad area. The rest are living in ghettos surrounded by ten-foot walls with one entrance and receiving mortar and RPG fire. At the rate they are joining the millions of refugees throughout the Middle East, they will soon be gone. If we offered to relocate them, they would jump at the chance.

(6) If the Sunnis were completely removed from the Baghdad area, all the fighting would stop. If we redeployed to border areas, we could stop outside interference. With less than half our present strength, we could watch everybody settle down and then leave.

A) Learn how to read. An "offer to relocate" is not enforced relocation. Borrow a good dictionary

JR
What peaceful Iraq? No TV at home? No newspapers?

Bush armed and trained the Shi'ites and now we can't disarm them. Besides, there are armies all over the world. So what? Bush's problem has always been stupid priorities. Afghanistan comes before Iraq.

Sounds like a peaceful suicide. The Shiites are the biggest threat to peace in the middle east, and the rest of the world, if they align themselves with Iran, and Syria.

We would be trading a peaceful Iraq for a very unstable middle east. We would eventually have to confront a much stronger enemy in the middle east ; an enemy that was built with American dollars, American weapons, and American blood.
EDIT---I was talking about a peaceful Iraq after we leave (as you suggest) and after the Shea defeat the outnumbered Sunnis.
There are armies all over the world, but we don't have to create an extension to the armies of Iran and Syria. This new army would be one that would love to attack anything American.
I think you're hatred of Bush causes you to give him too much credit for planning all our military strategy. There have been many brilliant people involved in the moves we have made, and most Americans are not even aware of the reasons our military moves the way it does.---Some day it may become clear that they really did know what they were doing. They can't just make public, all their strategy, in order to pacify their critics.
I can see a need for several military bases and landing strips throughout Iraq ,right in the middle of a very troublesome middle east.
Before the war, we couldn't even get permission to fly over these countries to engage an enemy who attacks American people or American interests.

Of course that is not a reasonable option....

I believe that is referred to as "ethnic cleansing." You dont take one particular religious or ethnic group and "relocate" them to the least desirable place in the nation (ask the native Americans how cool they think your idea is). It does not work....and is immoral. No matter how naughty SOME of them had been previously.....

No matter how despondent, no matter how in danger, no matter how beleaguered people always resist forced deportation. Just ask the Palestinians. The premise of your question is a fantasy.
