I'm not so much bored as sad that these people don't have more of a life.
Celebrity news does have one small benefit, besides providing some shallow entertainment. The lives of celebrities often make examples, both good and bad, that we can learn from. And, on rare occasion, celebrity news intersects some larger issue, such as the Paris Hilton's jail stay illustrating how short the typical misdemeanor sentence is in the LA County system (1/10 of time adjudicated).
Ms. Spears may have some personal issues, but aside from the fact that she could be having a successful and rewarding career, her personal tragedy is much less devastating than those of many other Americans.

my problem with her is; she thought she was adult enough to get pregnant--not once but twice--but still wants to be a young person w/ out responsibilities...she wants to party and have fun. I'm sorry but once you become a mother it's no longer about you or what you want. Your child/ children need to be priority number one. She's setting a very bad example for young ladies everywhere; she's showing it's ok to have babies only to let someone else raise them and continue having the wild child life you did before. Being a mom is a 24/7/365 job, a child is not something you can pass off to a nanny when you get bored of them or when you want to go get plastered. If she was not ready to be a mom and act like a responsible adult then she never should have gotten pregnant. I feel sorry for her that her life is so out of control; I seriously feel that her "snapping" was postpartum depression, I hope she gets back in control and realizes what is at stake before it's too late. This is just my opinion as a mother of two kids, whom I love and would die for.

It's just a complete character assassination. Whilst I do think she may have gone off the rails just a little, I don't actually care that much, and I can't help but wonder what a sad little society we are to criticise someone for putting on a bit of weight, especially when the basis of our comparison is the same person when they were 18 years old, pre two kids.
I don't know her personally, and we don't have enough room in our lives to worry about every single person who has problems. Keep it local, that's what I think.

People that put themselves in the public eye have to deal with the scrutiny that comes with it. No, i dont think Britney having a stain on her top is newsworthy, but the press have an insatiable interest in celebrity and the smallest thing can make the papers on a slow news day.

I used to hate her, thought she was a terrible role model for kids - all about sex and nothing about education. However, now I just feel so sorry for her. I mean, in reality, she is a none-too-bright hick who has been in show business her whole life. She is not worldly, she is not educated, and she has the world judging her. Who could lead happy life knowing there is always someone looking (not just someone - the whole world) and judging? I feel bad for her. We need to leave her alone, let her be. So she gets tattoos and shaves her head? Who cares? If it were Jane Doe, no one would say a word, but because people know who she is, it's a big deal? I hate our double standards, our quickness to judge.
Poor girl. Money and fame rarely equals happy.
And by the way, she looks damn good for having had 2 kids in a very short period of time.

To be honest it bores me when people mention Britney Spears at all. I can't stand celebrity obsession.
I understand your point though, they can't even buy a loo roll or eat a chocolate bar without whole articles written about it and analysed to death. Once the media has decided they love or hate a person, everything the person does from that moment on seems to be used in support of that.

No at all. I think people don't bother about her or Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan now a days. Not because we are bored with the criticise, but because we don't bother. Its like as if they don't exist in the mind of people who have brain and people who always have something better to do.

These people, via their management, court the press for their own ends but, as in her case, there is very little talent to sustain her career, the same journalists will take great pleasure in holding her up to ridicule.

People are petty, especially tabloids. They sell anything and stupid people actually buy them. Britney is only human. She makes mistakes as well as does many great things. I might not agree with everything she does but it's HER life. Stop putting her under the microscope.
