My problem is I am single and have no real family, so it's not so much America is my enemy is that everyone is competing for what I have and they have a network of friends and family. So it is me against the world not just the USA..

I certainly do NOT believe that the VAST majority of Americans are my enemy.
I believe that the majority of Americans want what is best for their families, their communities and our country as a whole. The definition of exactly what "best" is and how to get there is where some people differ, but I don't think that someone is my enemy just because we disagree about politics or religion or philosophy.
I grew up in a family equally split between liberals and conservatives, and we have always had great political debates and discussions. This is only possible because of the attitude of respect and civility my parents (one liberal and the other conservative, and quite happily married for over 40 years) have fostered in us.
That's what everyone needs. Treat people who disagree with you with respect and civility. That's what keeps the debate fun.

I do not view my fellow Americans as enemies. It is a choice I make daily when I spend time on this site, by the way.
But we do not really know where some of these users live, do we? We do not know the motives of ANYONE else, do we?
We only see what is printed on the page. We try to read between the lines but should we?
I believe our nation needs healing. The source of healing that I depend on is my relationship with the Lord. It works for me.

No, I don't believe that half of the US is my enemy. What I do believe is that half the US Congress is dead wrong.
For today, I will overlook their error. For today, I will join with my fellow Americans and pray. For today, I will remember the men and women, the policemen, the firefighters, and everyone who died on 9/11/01. For today, I will remember all those who lost loved ones on that horrible day. For today, let us be one nation.

yeah us australians get a bit like that too
~~~~~~~~~~~~where is the love?~~~~~~~~~~~~
but more importantly lets stop hating/bashing fellow countries
it takes more strength to love your enemy but that the only mature way (and besides which theres really only one enemy in middle east not the thousands that are slaughtered) and i hate when our aussie troops die it makes me cry
what we need and what many people from both sides is negotation that is the civil way! and why don't we hire private detectives to track down osama bin laden that would be more effective
YES I/we do. They are known by their fruit. They are the mainstream media, liberals, moderates, judicial activists, homosexuals, most teachers, college professors and union/socialist workers. We did stop for just one day, it was six years ago today.
The problem here is that most everyone who I have mentioned has forgotten that day and doesn't have the stomach to fight to keep what my fathers, fathers before me fought for and gave their lives to keep.
If you turn a blind eye to radicals they will overwhelm you by force.
I don't. Not too sure about the Ann Coulters, Bill O'Reillys and Rush Limbaughs of this country, but I sure don't.
And for the thumbs down, take a look at Ken's post or the post by Hey Liberal. No one group is more hateful than the other. Let's see if we can all tone it down today, huh?
Hateing and bashing are not necessarily the same thing. I can disagree with you and not hate you. That is called freedom of opinion. I don't hate my opponets. I respect their right to have their thoughts and opinions, but I don't have to agree with them on everything.
Its all about politics. You will hear liberals blaming conservatives, conservatives blaming liberals but really everyone is to blame. Everyone makes the same mistakes. Until we grow as a race this will continue to ring true.
No, I don't believe that at all. I just disagree with them on what I think is the correct direction for America.
