My baby was just the same and didn't sleep at all I tried severall baby sleep techniques including the cry it out method (which I hated and stopped after one night) finally, a friend told me about an audio program that she had used to solve her babies sleep problem. I tried it and within a week Jake was sleeping through the night every night. The website I got the audio from is http://www.babysleepsolution.com/index1.html

Good Luck

We went through the same exhaustion and frustration that you are going through now and ended up using the controlled crying method to sort out our baby's sleep issues. He was always a poor sleeper and I only got 4-6hours of broken sleep in any given 24 hour period so both he and I were totally shattered all day, every day!! Within 3 days of using the controlled crying method he was sleeping through the night. Until then I had got up several times during the night to replace his dummy, feed him and rock him back off to sleep only for him to wake again 10-15 minutes later once he was back in his bed again. With controlled crying you will need to let your baby cry for a minute before going in to soothe him/her. Just pat your baby until the crying gives way to soft intermittent little sobs then leave the room. Don't pick your baby up. When you leave the room expect all hell to break loose again but this time leave it 2 minutes before you go in. Repeat the process - leaving it an extra minute each time. Most babies figure out that you will always come in to soothe them but that it's not worth wailing about it for 10 minutes to get that attention and that it's better to try and resettle themselves. Over a few days most babies will do this. It does take an iron will to do it though as once your baby reaches 5-10 minutes before you can go back it it becomes very hard to stop yourself from going in to soothe them earlier than you should be. A few other things you can try is playing soothing music at night in their room, two cotton balls with a drop of lavender on each placed under the two top corners of cot under your babies sheet at night, relaxation bathing before bed, rhythmic noises in their room (ticking clock or a fan operating). If your baby is a boy and you are using talc or nappy rash powders on him after each nappy change stop using them. Little boys can get infections under their foreskins and irritations in the urethra from these powders and this could also be the reason he is waking up at night - pain after urinating. Our son ended up needing a circumcision at 2 1/2 years and his sleeping patterns after this, once all the infections cleared up, also greatly improved. Hope this helps

Is the baby waking up beacuse of hunger or just to be with you? You may want to look at the baby's eating habits. Make sure he/she is going to bed with a happy tummy. If not, try that. If he/she does have a happy tummy, then you may have to let the baby cry it out a bit. It is hard, but it works. Check out the book by the Super Nanny. It has ALOT of helpful hints on this. Good luck. Remeber, this too shall pass!

Make sure you give the baby a bath before bed and use the bed time bath wash. It helped come my littles ones down. Make sure he/she has a full belly. Some kids just dont like to sleep well. Limit his naps to one a day 12 to 2 and make him stay awake. Have him go to bed at 9. See if that helps. Hope it does

well what are you feeding it before bed time. I know my sister would always mix in a little bit of baby cereal(doctor recommended) into her baby's bottle before bed. It makes it a bit thicker and more filling. Also make sure the baby is good and tired before bed, have a routine, maybe play for a little bit and get the energy out, then a soothing bath, then a bottle or whatever before bed.

She may have colic or acid reflux. Try to make sure everything is okay and there is no reason for her tears. If she is just crying, then try swaddling or letting her latch on if you are breastfeeding. This is comforting to her.

In order to give any advise, we would need to know what you have tried and how it worked out. I'll tell you this though. My son refused to be swaddled, he also hated sleeping on his back. He slept on his stomach.

I had a problem with my daughter. Sometimes you just have to let them cry themselves back to sleep. It's hard to listen to a crying baby but it will help. They have cd's and stuff that you may try aswell.
