I was a junior in high school and our entire class was in the auditorium for a meeting about class rings. When we got back to classes all the TVs were on and we had no idea what was going on.

I also remember a year and a half later watching the "shock and awe" in class. My boyfriend (now husband) was deploying to Iraq any day, so that was pretty terrifying too.

It's just hard to believe it's been six years already...

Hard as it is to believe, i was around 10 city blocks away from the WTC heading to it with my new wife, our daughter who was only 2 at the time and my sister-in-law. My sister-in-law lived in New York City at the time and worked at the WTC, we were on vacation visiting her. She was taking us there to show us around the towers and other sites in the area. We stood and watched in amazement thinking that it was a horrible accident. it really was like a dream. After the second plane hit, we didnt stick around. We knew it was something horrible. My sister-in-law was in shock as everyone she worked with was in there. But we got out of the area before the towers collapsed, because we had the baby with us.
Had we been a half hour sooner, i probably wouldnt be typing this today.

Worked at a convenience store that had satellite radio, so we had no idea what was going on. People kept giving us conflicting reports and no one really knew what was happening. I live 5 miles from Shanksville, PA and the entire building shook when the plane crashed, but no one knew at the time what it was. Then all the sirens and just mass frenzy broke out. I went in the back and just started to cry, i was so confused and scared. The next few weeks were a blur as the media and families descended on the area; visiting the site is overwhelming and everyone should try to come visit it.

I worked as a Leasing Agent in an Apartment community I stood watching the TV in the fitness center after hearing about it on the radio.

I stood watching it by self when the 2nd plane hit and that is when we all knew it wasn't an accident.

Just like everyone else who watched the scene unfold it was the most horrible sick to your stomach feeling. I can only imagine the actually fear that so many lived with and died with that day.

Yet it is a day to be remembered for so many selfless hero's and those who bravely gave their lives to save the lives of others.

God Bless those who still grieve the loss of their loved ones.

I had just started 7th grade, a couple of weeks before it had happened. Honestly, I had never even heard of the World Trade Center, and I didn't know what was going on. But at the time, maybe that was best, because I wasn't afraid. But on that day, I was sitting in the science class that my cousin taught, and another teacher ran into the room, darn near shaking to death, and then he explained to us what had happened. I was scared, but totally confused. All I knew was "some bad group of people hijacked airplanes and went into a very important building, killing thousands." All that day, I was terrified that it wasn't going to stop there. Now, six years later, understanding what the media said happened that day, I must say that it's terrible. I can't imagine losing a loved one in that particular manner. I have a cousin in the marines, two friends in the army, two in the navy, and one in the air force. I miss them all, and can't wait to see them again.

At work. I remember someone walked into my office and said that the news station said that a plane had crashed into one of the towers. I continued working until it was time to go to a meeting. Everyone was gathered at the front office around a small TV. That was when I realised that we were under attack. I went home shortly after and stayed glued to the TV (I live in Texas). I remember how helpless, angry and sad I felt all at the same time. I cried. I don't know why. I remember walking outside of my house on that bright morning and being stunned by the silence all around. No planes were flying, the roads were empty. It seemed as though even the birds had fallen silent. I remember raising my flag the next morning. Driving to work, it seemed like everyone had some sort of flag or message of patriotism on their vehicle. We need to finish this war no matter how long it takes or we'll never have peace again. God Bless America!

I was on a humanitarian missions trip in Romania. It was terrible to know something like that happened to the United States and I couldn't be home with my family. I never ended up seeing the footage until 1 week later when I got home.

I had retired a couple of months before and my daughter telephoned to tell me about it. I turned the TV on just in time to see the second on hit. Every time I see a Boeing twin engined jet aircraft at that angle (it happens fairly frequently where I live) I think of 11th september 2001

I was at home with my baby daughter, when I saw the first tower I thought it was an accident. When I saw the second, I knew it was an attack and I just started bawling. Let us never forget the events of that day.

I was at work in the UK. someone phoned to tell us and we watched in horror as the first building collapsed. We all assumed it was empty, naively thinking there had been time to evacuate everyone and didnt realise it was situated on top of loads of other buildings. It was the most terrible thing I have ever witnessed and it still haunts me to this day.

God rest their souls.

I was in junior high too, but they didn't tell us anything. The principal came to all the teachers and told them not to turn on their t.v. or talk to us about it. We didn't find out until about 6 hours later when we got home.
